‘Shoot Them Mercilessly’ says Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy

Honnalagere Prakash, a Janata Dal (Secular) leader was hacked to death on Monday, 24 December in Karnataka’s Mandya area. The murder was carried out by four bike-borne criminals who chased Prakash’s car and brutally slashed his neck and arm using a machete. However, the shocking part of the story is hours after the death of the JD(S) leader, Chief Minister of the state HD Kumaraswamy was heard speaking on the phone where he was telling the person on the line (assumed to be a senior police officer), that the killers should be shot dead without mercy.

In a video that has emerged, HD Kumaraswamy is heard saying on the phone, He was a good man. I don’t know who killed him and who killed him in this manner. Shoot them (the killers) mercilessly, there would be no issues. It is shocking that a CM of the state is ordering extra-judicial murder and yet no outrage has been seen from the media.

However, Kumaraswamy later clarified that he was ‘emotional’ at the moment and it was not an official order. Speaking to the press, CM Kumaraswamy said, “It was not my order, I was emotional at that moment. They (killers) are the reason for two murders and they were in jail. They came out on bail two days ago and killed another person (JDS leader Prakash); this is how they are misusing bail.”

The prompt and strict action taken by HD Kumaraswamy in the matter is commendable if his harsh words are overlooked. But the big question is why this strictness and promptness is not shown when someone from BJP or RSS is killed. In the last three years of Congress government of the state, at least 30 workers of RSS, BJP or Hindu organization have been killed till now. Not even one out of the 30 odd murder cases of Hindu activists in Karnataka has seen the light of justice so far!

Here is the List of all the RSS or BJP workers killed under the Congress rule: http://www.organiser.org/Encyc/2018/5/8/Murder-of-RSS-Swayamsevaks-and-BJP-activists-in-Karnataka.html

It is a matter of grave concern for netizens of Karnataka when the law and order body of the state is under a ruthless political grip, effectively rendering the police forces incapable to act on their own. In Karnataka brazen crimes seem to be getting political patronage and those who do not fall in line are cleared out of the way by way of transfers, suspensions, demotion, defamation or even death. The Congress sees no moral obligation to answer tough questions posed to them as to why jailed criminals from the radical groups like PFI were let off and why there has been a splurge in the killings of Hindu activists ever since then? Congress being shamelessly unapologetic is quick to pass the abhorrent communal buck onto the BJP.

The deplorable politics of hatred and vote bank by power thirsty political parties like the Congress, JDS and their offshoots is very bad news for the future of Karnataka.
