Rajasthan woman accuses Congress leader of constant harrassment

In the poll-bound Rajasthan where elections are scheduled for 7th December, a video has created a ruckus in the Congress. The video shows a lady claiming that she is being continuously harassed and tortured mentally by the Congress candidate and sitting MLA Dr. Rajkumar Sharma from Nawalgarh.

The lady has filed a complaint against Sharma for sexual misconduct. According to Bajaj Nagar police (where the case has been filed), the lady has alleged that Sharma had called her to his place two years ago where he allegedly molested her.

The lady sat on a protest in front of Ramdev Temple on Saturday, demanding justice. In the 6 minutes long video, the lady says that she topped her MA and has completed M.Phil., Net, is a JRF fellow and is currently pursuing Ph.D. She also added that she has been awarded by Brahmin Society, by Honorable Governor and also by the Honorable President of India and further says that she is nothing but ‘zero’ today.

She claims that Sharma has spoiled her career, misusing his political power he stopped her articles from getting published. His men keep an eye on her 24*7 and are following wherever she goes and she is not allowed to go out of Nawalgarh.

Sharma who has been ‘rewarded’ with the ticket from Congress from Nawalgarh needs to answer all the allegations that he is being charged with. With questions being raised on Sharma, there are questions on the Congress as well.

This is not the first case that a Congress leader has been alleged of harassment or sexual misconduct. The latest allegation on the National president of the NSUI, Fairoz Khan left every student activist thinking about the culture within the Congress and its institutions. Fairoz Khan was charged for not only harassing the complainant but also forcing her younger sister to come to his hotel room. The complainant also mentioned that many of the young women leaders have gone through the same but haven’t spoken about, out of fear. In her email which got leaked, she charges Fairoz of torturing her to compromise with him. The complainant also mentioned that she emailed the senior leadership complaining about him, but received no response.

In the past, in Rajasthan, a Cabinet Minister and a senior leader of the party was not only charged with abduction of Bhanwari Devi but was also accused of the rape and murder of the same woman. In the year 2011, the cabinet minister was arrested by the Rajasthan Police and brought under trial for the same. There are many cases to cite of leaders of the Congress being maligned in such cases.

Congress’ history of being maligned in such cases is ironical as it has always claimed to be the savior of women. The fact that their leaders are constantly accused of harassing women speaks volumes of their evident hypocrisy on women safety.
