Congress toils hard to shift the blame to BJP over farmers’ distress

The Congress party managed to wrest the power in the three states of Hindi heartland- Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh- by creating a narrative of farmer distress and making impractical promises like that of farm loan waiver. After capturing the power, Congress has emerged out to be an absolute disaster for poor farmers. With every passing day, they seem to be exacerbating the problem instead of solving it. So far, the Congress party has been an absolute disaster for farmers. After being cornered on the promise of farm loan waiver, urea shortage, and farmer suicide cases, Congress is now facing a grave risk of being branded as anti-farmer. To make the matter worse for the party, during urea distribution on Monday in the Guna district of Madhya Pradesh, the police carried out a lathi charge on the protesting farmers.

It appears that the Congress party is trying to bounce back and shift the blame of poor condition of farmers on the incumbent BJP government at centre. Recently, a person tweeted that he sold out 1500 kg of garlic just for Rs 3000 than throwing it away. He added that total production cost was Rs 40,000. He further expressed concern about other poor farmers who have no alternative than to commit suicide as they could not bear such a huge loss.

However, the interesting fact in all the cases is that there are two more self-proclaimed farmers who produced the same quantity of garlic by investing the same amount of money. Similarity doesn’t end here, they further took it to the market in the same vehicle and incurred the same amount of loss. Even typos are same.

However there are some differences also, all these three people live in different places- Delhi, Indore, and the US, and secondly, they come from different communities- Hindu, Muslim, and Christian. It gives the sense of the alleged presence of Amar, Akbar Anthony in the IT cell.

This couldn’t be a mere coincidence. Opposition parties and their ecosystem are doing overtime to push such fake stories of non-existent farmers. Harassing the real farmers and pushing imaginary stories of non-existent farmers on social media. However, their lies are caught again but they might continue pushing such fake stories in order to attack the BJP. This is the Congress’ way of working and this is how they manage to win elections.

The basic idea behind pushing this imaginary story was to send a subtle message that Modi government is doing nothing to provide the right price to farmers for their crops. However, the Modi government has taken several steps for the farming sector since it came to power. Big decisions have been taken to achieve the target of doubling farmer’s income by 2022. To make farmers financially secure in the case of poor crop growth, the government launched Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY). To provide irrigation facilities to farmers across the country, PM Modi launched Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) and pumped money into the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to increase credit penetration to farmers. The MSP for common variety paddy, the most important Kharif crop will be raised by Rs 200 over last year’s Rs 1,550 per quintal, which is 13 percent increase from the MSP in the previous financial year.
