Ahead of the Telangana state assembly elections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while speaking in an election rally on Sunday proposed to restore the old name of Hyderabad that is Bhagyanagar. UP CM Yogi said, “BJP has taken up the mantle of establishing Ram Rajya and Telangana too should play a role in this.” He said this to a large gathering at Begum Bazar, less than 2 km from the headquarters of Assaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). CM Yogi further said, “And if you are keen to rename Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar, then vote for BJP.”
Restoring the original names of cities is very important. Invaders and colonizers used to change the names of places in order to dilute the identity associated with those places. When a place loses its name, along with that it also loses its history, culture, identity and pride. If someone dilutes our identity, it becomes easier for anyone to colonize our minds. Our entire history revolves around Muslim dynasties and British rule. There are millions of Indians who feel ashamed in talking about their ancient culture. Restoring the names of these cities is a step towards de-colonizing the young minds, and to correct wrongs of the past. Restoring the old name of Hyderabad would be a big step towards restoring the Hindu heritage of the state.
CM Yogi also said that the only way to stop terrorists is to install a BJP government. He said, “All terror attacks have some link with Hyderabad. Had Muslim appeasement not been part of our politics, such terrorist activities would not have taken place. While Congress feeds biryani to terrorists, BJP feeds them bullets.”
Addressing an election rally at Tandur, Vikarabad in Telangana, CM Yogi launched a blistering attack against Asaduddin Owaisi as he said, “If BJP comes to power in Telangana, I assure you Owaisi will have to flee from Telangana the same way as Nizam was forced to flee from Hyderabad. BJP will give security to all but will not allow anyone to create anarchy.”

CM Yogi is one of the star campaigners of the BJP in Telangana state assembly elections. His presence in election is no less than an eyesore for the opposition. He is in huge demand as voters of states such as Tripura, Gujarat and Karnataka have already put a stamp on his acceptability and image as a firebrand speaker. CM Yogi’s hard stance on criminals and his approach towards development in the state have further boosted his credentials. CM Yogi, with his Hindutva image, would definitely evoke emotions of people in Telangana who are fed up of KCR’s Muslim appeasement policy. K Chandrasekhar Rao’s party Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Asaduddin Owaisi’s party All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) are contesting together in the upcoming Telangana state assembly elections. On the other hand, the BJP has decided to go solo in the polls, while the Congress has formed a Grand Alliance with Chandrababu Naidu’s party Telugu Desam Party (TDP), CPI and Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) party.
The elections for 119 seats in Telangana will be held on 7th December along with Rajasthan. The results are to be declared on December 11.
