In what seems to be yet another instance of political hooliganism in the state of West Bengal, state BJP president Dilip Ghosh’s car was vandalized yesterday, at Hooghly district of West Bengal. Ghosh was returning from a party rally when this incident took place. As per reports, it took place near Kalipur at Dankuni in Hooghly district. Ghosh who was in the car when it was vandalized was rescued by his security personnel. A total of five cars were allegedly damaged by the TMC workers. Some of the other leaders, including Joy Banerjee and BJP’s youth wing secretary Prakash Das were also injured in the incident.
Ghosh had earlier addressed a rally Masat in Hooghly where he said that they did not want to fight but it did not mean that they would not resist or would not retaliate if attacked. After his car was vandalized, Ghosh said, “Our rally at Masat in Hooghly drew a lot of crowd. This is the reason why TMC workers have attacked our cars.” Joy Banerjee said, “Glass on my car window has also been damaged. We have informed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh about it. Will also file an FIR at the local police station.”
It must be noted that the BJP is all set to carry out a massive rath-yatra in the state of West Bengal that will cover all 42 Lok Sabha seats in the TMC ruled state. Three rath-yatras will start from Bengal’s temple town Tarapith, north Bengal’s Cooch Behar and south Bengal’s Gangasagar respectively. These three rath-yatras will eventually converge in Kolkata in the second week of January. The BJP has thus planned a massive assault on the ruling dispensation in the state which is already battling popular sentiments against it, especially among the Hindus who had been mistreated and blatantly discriminated against by the incumbent Mamata government. The BJP has already set an ambitious target of winning at least 25 seats out of the 42 seats in the state during the Lok Sabha polls next year and has been actively campaigning in the state where it traditionally enjoyed negligible presence. In such circumstances, it is obvious that the TMC leadership and cadres fear the rise of BJP in the state triggering a dramatic end for TMC in the state. This dastardly act of vandalism could have, therefore, been carried out by the TMC workers even as they fear that the BJP might overcome their party in the next elections. Even the BJP in a tweet alleged that the West Bengal chief minister is disturbed by the planned ‘Gantantra bachao Rathayatra’ in December.
State President Shri @DilipGhoshBJP attacked by TMC goons near Chanditala.
It’s clear that @mamataofficial is disturbed by the planned ‘Gantantra bachao Rathayatra’ in Dec. Such attacks will only make BJP leaders and workers more determined.

It doesn’t come as a huge surprise that the TMC goons maybe resorting to open hooliganism in order to stop BJP’s phenomenal rise in the state. Even earlier, reports and allegations of the TMC goons resorting to violence against BJP workers, and even murdering them have come up. Even as the TMC supported goons have gone on a killing spree against the BJP workers, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has chosen to maintain pin drop silence about it. This goes on to show how these goons are able to indulge in violence against the BJP workers and leaders with impunity. They have read the writing on the wall and understand that the TMC doesn’t enjoy much popularity in the state. Thus, the TMC goons are resorting to their usual tactics of violence and hooliganism.
