Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu is an opportunistic groupie, a spineless leader to his own people, and a cause for embarrassment for all of India. His experiments with the Pakistani leadership have surpassed limits, allowing them to play the upper hand and disregard the Indian government’s position on crucial and sensitive matters. Navjot Singh Sidhu has let India down spectacularly.

On November 28, 2018, the Kartarpur Corridor was inaugurated by Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan. The 4-km long corridor connects Kartarpur, the final resting place of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib, to Gurdaspur district of Punjab, India. While the decision on both sides of the border to facilitate this opening of the corridor is historical, it also is politically motivated on Pakistan’s part, as it seems to wield a diabolical strategy to spark secessionist fires in Punjab, and bleed India further. Sushma Swaraj asserted that she would not be attending the event owing to prior commitments and Capt. Amarinder Singh also declined the invitation. Union Ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri represented India at the event.

In his speech, Imran Khan brought up Kashmir which invited a rebuttal from the Indian foreign ministry, “It is deeply regrettable that the Prime Minister of Pakistan chose to politicise the pious occasion meant to realise the long-pending demand of the Sikh community to develop a Kartarpur corridor by making unwarranted reference to Jammu and Kashmir which is an integral and inalienable part of India”

Imran Khan expressed hope that Pakistan does not have to wait for Sidhu to become the Indian PM for the relations between both the nations to get better. Sidhu being in the limelight for his unconditional love for Pakistan and his gutless silence on all of Pakistan’s crimes against Indian soldiers and civilians across the border has surprised even people of his own constituency. Less than two weeks ago, a grenade attack in his own constituency of Amritsar, inside a Sant Nirankari prayer hall killed 3 people and injured 30, and the accused mastermind of this attack, pro-Khalistan leader Gopal Chawla, was present at the inauguration event and given a seat at VVIP front row next to General Qamar Bajwa and himself.

That Sidhu and Imran Khan’s friendship is being marketed so aggressively, it makes us justifiably question why Sidhu raised no objection when Imran Khan brought up the Kashmir issue at the event, Why Sidhu has never taken upon his shoulders the burden to confront Pakistan over its state sponsored terror intended to make a thousand cuts on India, its patronage for Kashmiri Militants and pro-Khalistan elements, and why he cannot reiterate the Indian government’s stand on Kashmir and the idea of Khalistan on the soil of Pakistan if he at all wishes to not be perceived with suspicion or plain disgust.

Earlier, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh had asked Sidhu to reconsider his visit to Pakistan but instead of giving any heed to the CM or even the will of the people, he preferred to cross border in order to greet his friend, Imran Khan.
