To instill the very idea of nationalism in the hearts of the countrymen, government has come up with a new idea. The government has directed 75 busiest railway stations in the country to install the national flag in their premises. The decision comes after government has made it mandatory to play national anthem in the cinema halls before the commencement of any movie.
The government should be applauded for its efforts in order to ingrain the feeling of patriotism amongst one and all. In a circular laid out by the Railway Board last month, 75 stations whose annual earnings cross Rs 50 crore (considered to be A-1 category stations) have been directed to ensure that the height of the tricolor is precisely 100 ft. The deadline for unfurling the national flag at these railway stations is December 31, 2018.
As per the sources from Railways, “The Railway Board circular has directed that flags should have focus lights, and the Railway Protection Force has been tasked to safeguard it. The cost to install a flag will be around Rs 9 lakh considering the lights and other decorative pieces.”
A senior railway official said “Whether it is portraits of freedom fighters or the national flag, the aim is to showcase the symbols of our country at public places.” The official added that these installations are part of government’s drive to project “symbols of nationalism”.
Further, The Railway Board directive also made it clear that these tricolors at the stations should be installed at spots closer to the entry/exit points.
Government is also planning to paint the coaches of local trains with tricolor, claimed a source from railway.
Let us be assured about the upcoming debates over the issue of nationalism. The left-liberals of this great land will label this step of government as an act of forcefully pressing upon the very idea of ‘nationalism’ in the mindset of people.
Recently, PM Modi unveiled statue of Sardar Patel who played a pivotal role in uniting the nation. Sardar Patel played the pivotal role in integrating Indian states. The indomitable man single handedly integrated 562 princely states with the Union of India. He is the “Architect of Modern India.” However, only a miniscule minority knows about his contributions. It’s not their fault. Those who ruled the country for more than sixty years wanted to keep people unaware about the contribution of such a great person. Now, the incumbent government is working in the direction to make people aware about ideas, philosophy and contributions of Sardar Patel. He contributed his entire life for the nation. His statue will promote a sense of nationalism among Indians. The feeling of nationalism will guide countrymen to work incessantly for the cause of nation. The sentiment of Nationalism acts as a glue which binds the countrymen together.
The decision by government to install the national flag in the premises of 75 busiest railway stations will instill the sense of patriotism in the masses. People by this step will more often come across with their much revered national flag. Indian railways is among the few things which ignites the Indian identity among the people of different colour, caste, creed and religions in the country.
