Javed Akhtar exposes the double standards of Indian liberals by justifying Tipu Jayanti

Javed Akhtar, Tipu Sultan

In a new low for himself, lyricist cum screenwriter Javed Akhtar has tried to justify the arbitrary imposition of Tipu Jayanti on the entire state of Karnataka. In the following tweet, he referred to a historical example to justify the reason why Congress is ‘doing the right thing’ by celebrating the birth anniversary of the tainted ‘Sultan of Mysore’.

In this tweet, he has mentioned as to how Tipu Sultan was a worldwide celebrity, owing to his struggle against the British, and how he assisted the likes of Benjamin Franklin in the American War of Independence.

For those unaware, Tipu Sultan was the ruler of the Mysore state, who was famous for his novel methods of warfare, including rocket artillery. He is labeled as a hero by many for actively resisting the British rule, and died fighting against the British at his fort in Srirangapatnam.

However, what has been carefully hidden from the public is his rabid hatred for non Muslims, and that he was heavily criticized for his excessive brutality against the same, not just by the opportunistic Britishers, but even by his French allies, who were more sympathetic towards his cause.

As such, the decision to celebrate his birthday hasn’t gown down well with the Indian nationalists, especially the BJP, which has vociferously protested against the arbitrary celebrations, for which the Congress government hasn’t hesitated from imposing Section 144 in some districts like Hubli, Dharwad etc.

In such circumstances, Javed Akhtar’s tweet is not only atrocious, but extremely misleading. Also, if we brush off the dust from the pages of India’s medieval history, his claims are as genuine as the claims of Jawahar Lal Nehru being the pioneer of India’s space genius. In no genuine historical records, except for that of the left liberals’ own dreams, is it mentioned that the iconic American entrepreneur cum freedom fighter had a conversation with Tipu Sultan, forget even being assisted by him.

While it is completely true that Tipu Sultan did attract the attention of French king Napoleon Bonaparte, the incident of Benjamin Franklin being assisted by Tipu of Sultan is a mere eyewash, with no credible historical evidence to back it up. Ironically, it is the same cabal of liberals, including Javed Akhtar, who mock our pursuit for the restoration of the Ram Janmbhoomi complex, casting doubts at the existence of the deity. Is this not hypocrisy?

Also, this is not the first time Javed Akhtar has been accused of peddling hypocrisy in the name of liberal thoughts. In the previous year, when he tried to shame the Hindu community by allegedly criticizing their refusal to allow women as equal heirs under the inheritance clause of the Hindu Succession Act, he was schooled left right and center by the entire Twitterati, who then cited the judgments passed in the favor of women.

He has also sported rabid contempt for those who are pro India, even if remotely. Be it his mockery of sporting legends like the Phogat clan and Yogeshwar Dutt for calling out on his vocal defence of left liberal Gurmehar Kaur, or his showdown with a fellow Twitter user for calling out his hypocrisy on free speech, Javed Akhtar has been a habitual offender.

He is extremely proactive when it comes to the defense of his brethren, no matter how atrocious their actions have been.

This comes as no surprise, since he also backed the separatist JNU student and ex student union leader Kanhaiyya Kumar in his political ambitions to contest from Begusarai in Bihar. We only wonder as to how long his web of lies will be tolerated by the masses, and how long will his kind get away with such absurd justifications.
