In a bold move, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has canceled the recruitment of 4,000 Urdu teachers in the state’s government schools. The recruitment process was initiated under the government of former Chief Minister- Akhilesh Yadav, just before the end of his term.

In 2016, the total 16,460 posts for teachers were announced in Uttar Pradesh, out of which 4000 posts were for Urdu teachers. The Akhilesh government started the recruitment process for Urdu teachers on December 15, 2016. The online process for recruitment was commenced on December 23, 2016, and the submission process continued till January 2017. The counseling date was declared in March 2017, but during that time, the Akhilesh government was thrown out of power and Yogi Government came in power with a huge majority. As soon as it came to power, it stopped the process of recruitment.

The candidates registered a case against the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board or Uttar Pradesh Basic Shiksha Parishad at the High Court. The court ruled in favor of the candidates and asked the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board to complete the recruitment process.

However, according to the Additional Chief Secretary of Basic Education Department, Prabhat Kumar, the recruitment has been canceled because there are already sufficient numbers of Urdu teachers in the state education department and no further recruitment is required as of now. The state government has filed a review petition against the court’s order.

The decision of Akhilesh government to recruit 4,000 Urdu teachers was nothing but just a blatant attempt of minority appeasement. CM Yogi has rightly canceled these vacancies. Step by step CM Yogi is dismantling the cruel legacies of the SP era.

When it comes to Muslim appeasement, Akhilesh Yadav followed the footsteps of his father who on 16 January 2017 said, “I will live for Muslims and die for them also”. His father is infamous for killing 16 unarmed kar sevaks in Ayodhya in 1990. In 2012, Akhilesh government launched ‘Humari Beti, Uska Kal’ scheme, under this scheme the government gave girls from the Muslim community Rs 30,000 to 10th pass girls for further studies or marriage. In another shameful and blatant attempt of Muslim appeasement, Akhilesh government in 2013 issued orders to withdraw of terror cases against Gorakhpur serial blast which accused Tariq Qasmi as well as five Bangladeshi citizens. They also tried to release Varanasi Sankat Mochan blast accused. During Muzaffarnagar riots his senior minister Azam Khan allegedly asked police to deal softly with Muslim rioters. When Mulayam Yadav was CM in 2004 he ordered all schools in Uttar Pradesh to give a break for Friday namaz. Also, before getting thrown out of power by the voters of UP, Akhilesh inaugurated secular Haj House made by the taxpayers’ money.

In 2012 budget Akhilesh Yadav increased the budgetary allocation for minority welfare, particularly for Muslims by 81% which included Rs 100 crores for assisting marriages of Muslim girls and Rs 200 crores for maintenance of graveyards. According to Aaj Tak report the Akhilesh government has allocated Rs 1300 crores for kabristans. On the other hand, they spent 627 crores on revamping the Smashans. Crores and crores were doled out to make mosques, Haj house, kabristan when Akhilesh Yadav was the CM. The Kairana exodus of Hindus happened under Akhilesh Yadav’s government. There aren’t too many politicians who have indulged in Muslim appeasement to an extent how Akhilesh and his father have.
