The #MeToo campaign has raised a storm in the intellectual circles of India, with several women breaking their silence on incidents of exploitation that they had endured years ago. What began with a brutal expose of ex AIB member Utsav Chakraborty has now turned into a movement that is ripping off the mask of ‘decency’ from the faces of otherwise ‘woke feminists’ and sophisticated people. Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Meghnad Bose, Vikas Bahl, or even the well respected, Alok Nath to the shock of many. The likes of Swara Bhasker and others of the left-liberal cabal had kept their tongues tied in response to this. Halfway into this expose fest, a Twitter user shared an anonymous post which accused lyricist cum comedian cum full time Modi critic, Varun Grover of sexually assaulting her during their days in IT BHU. The details of the alleged sexual assault are as given below:-

Varun Grover responded quickly to the post, hastily denying the allegations levied on him and gave indications suggesting that he was planning to take legal action against the supposed victim, if the charges turned out to be false.

The ‘empowered brigade’ of Bollywood and the entertainment industry, which had maintained silence on this issue, suddenly found their voice and backed Varun Grover with elan. Following are some of the tweets

However, the one tweet stood out apart was the one posted by the darling of the liberals, Swara Bhasker, who posted the following:-

However, like most of her previous tweets, this tweet reeked of hypocrisy as well, Swara is the last person who should be discouraging an anonymous account in such cases. Going by this logic, even Gurmeet Ram Rahim was innocent, since his dirty tricks were exposed by two girls who anonymously wrote a letter, with the requisite evidence to the investigative authorities. Does that mean the likes of Gurmeet should be absolved of their sins just because the victims aren’t comfortable with coming out in the open with their allegations?

One person in particular was not comfortable with the hypocrisy of Swara Bhasker which came to the front while defending Varun Grover, and he rightfully called out her for the same. Noted editor cum writer, Apurva Asrani criticized her approach with a balanced tweet which read:

Being called out for her follies didn’t go down well with Swara Bhasker, who as usual exposed her hypocrisy with another tweet:

The last line of the tweet lays threadbare the hypocrisy, which only the likes of Swara Bhasker and others of the leftist cabal are adept at. According to her, perpetrators cannot be held accountable on the basis of anonymous accounts. If this was the case, did the very same logic go for a toss in cases like the allegations on ex TVF CEO Arunabh Kumar?

It needs to be reminded that it was this very feminist brigade, led by the likes of Swara, who conducted their own media trial and subsequently declared Arunabh guilty without any hard proofs and lack of credible evidence to prove the same. Has Swara’s own logic gone for a toss? No wonder someone said correctly, ‘The only thing worse than a liar is a liar that is also a hypocrite’, and going by the current tweets, it feels like Swara Bhasker is a member of that same group.

Not everyone is as courageous as Mahima Kukreja or Suzette Jordan, who are ready to brave criticism and shame to narrate their painful ordeals. In cases, where the victim is yet to recover anonymity to a certain extent does help. By discrediting such accounts, Swara Bhasker is not only setting a wrong precedent of questioning the victims but she has also gone a bit too far this time by backing Varun Grover. These type of questions might end up discouraging victims who are not comfortable with ‘open allegations.’ Is this not ‘rape apologism’, Miss Swara Bhasker?

Irrespective of whatever the outcome is, the #MeToo campaign has done one good thing in the Indian perspective, it has royally exposed the likes of Swara Bhasker, who would do not practice what they preach to others. By backing perverts from her own league, Swara Bhasker has fully blown off her cover and for good.
