According to the Republic TV report, the NIA charge sheet further states that the accused persons conducted meeting at several places, were hiding in Jehanabad district and Masaurhi city of Bihar. They also carried out recce of the targets at Bodhgaya and obtained explosives and other materials required for manufacturing of the IED.
The charge sheet also mentions five other persons as accused- Jahidul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Adil Sheikh (Dilwar Hossain), Abdul Karim and Arif Hussain. Four of them have been arrested while Arif Hussain is still on the run.
Jahildul Islam is a senior member of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen. Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen is an Islamic terrorist organization operating from Bangladesh. Accused Paigambar Sheikh, Ahmad Ali, Nur Alam, Adil Sheikh, Dilwar Hossain, Abdul Karim and Arif Hussain are all members of JuM. Mustafizur Rahman is a close associate of Jahildul Islam. Their plan was to carry out terrorist attack on places which are of immense significance to Buddhist faith, in order to show solidarity with the Muslim Rohingya Army fighting against the Myanmar Government. By doing so, they also wanted to cause harm to life and property, and to wage war against the Government of India.
On 19th January, 2018, Adil Sheikh, Delwar Hossain and Arif Hussain planted IEDs in the premises of Bodh Gaya’s Mahabodhi temple, while His Holiness, The Dalai Lama was present at the venue and an impending visit from the Governor of Bihar.
Security agencies launched their investigation after two powerful live bombs, weighing 10 kilograms each fitted with suspected improvised explosive devices (IED) were recovered from near Mahabodhi temple in Bihar’s Bodh Gaya, where his holiness the Dalai Lama was holding religious sessions.
While speaking to Republic TV on the sensational development, exiled Tibetan Prime Minister, Dr. Lobsang Sangay said, “Indian Government reviews the security regularly. We are confident they will take care of it. It is certainly a cause of concern. Since I do not have the chargesheet, I can’t comment on it. We have pilgrimage centres across the nation with security. In some places security can be improved. Dalai Lama is doing very well. He was in Europe and has just returned yesterday and has an event tomorrow. He is perfectly healthy.”
The recent development further cements the fact that illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and Rohingya Muslims pose a threat to India’s national security. In the past also they have been found to be indulging in illegal activities such as fraudulent procurement and/or fabrication of Indian identity cards such as PAN, voter IDs etc — money laundering, crimes and other anti-national activities.
The recent development is a serious wake-up call for those who are living under the illusion that these illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and Rohingya Muslims are sweet, innocent and needy people, while the reality is far from this. They are a threat to the national security of India. National security is paramount, all the Rohingya and illegal Bangladeshi immigrants must be deported back to their respective countries so that people of India can live peacefully.
