It seems that our Uttar Pradesh police have turned over a new leaf ever since Yogi Adityanath stepped up as the state CM in early 2017. Notorious for their earlier lackadaisical attitude and their inability to strike big against criminals, the Uttar Pradesh police are sparing none in its quest to restore law and order. In this pursuit, they’re even managing to crack cases that require a higher degree of intelligence.

One such case is that of a woman, who faked her own death to marry another guy, making a clear case of bigamy. In Safdarjung area of the town of Barabanki, a man named Rahul and his parents were arrested and imprisoned on the charges of murdering his wife, Rubi, over the matter of dowry, as stated in an FIR filed by her father Hariprasad.

According to the case history, Rubi and Rahul were married in 2016. In June 2018, on the insistence of Rubi’s father Hariprasad, the local police lodged a case against Rahul, his father Ram Harsh and his mother Barki on the charges of murdering Rubi over dowry, harassment etc. When post primary investigation, police didn’t find the complaint credible enough to file an FIR, the father of Rubi approached the local court for the same.

However, there came the twist. As reported by SP Barabanki, Shri V P Shrivastav, ‘When Rubi’s father approached us and accused his son in law of killing his daughter for dowry; we probed the matter but couldn’t recover the body.’ Following the FIR on the court’s order, the police restarted their probe, and they hit the bulls eye, when they spotted an unmistakable trace: Rubi’s Facebook ID was still active!

To quote the SP, ‘After we came to know that her Facebook ID was active, we tracked her FB footprint and put her phone on surveillance.’ They hit the nail right on the head when it was discovered that Rubi was now living in Delhi with another person called Ramu. A search team was sent to Delhi, where both were arrested on the spot.

As of now, the police have exonerated Rahul and his family and lodged cases against Rubi and her father under Section 182 for misleading the court.

This case brings out the different side of Uttar Pradesh police once again. Having had to suffer ridicule and brickbats from all corners, our policemen have come of age, and doing the job they’re entrusted to by the rule of law, i.e. protection of the state and maintaining law and order.

One should thank the social media for exposing the fabricated lies of the woman, who thoroughly misused her status for selfish motives. Had her Facebook ID not revealed her whereabouts, heaven knows what could’ve happened to her family, and one must salute Uttar Pradesh police for taking pains to bring out the true picture.
