Sripeetam seer Swami Paripoornananda who was externed from Hyderabad for six months, received a grand welcome on his entry into the city. Thousands of BJP, VHP, RSS and Bajrang Dal volunteers and common folks gathered all along the Vijayawada-Hyderabad national highway and enthusiastically welcomed Swami Paripoornananda. The rally welcoming Swami Paripoornananda was called Dharma Jwala Yatra. Swami Paripoornananda enjoys great followership in the regions of Andhra and Telangana. He is often called as “Yogi of the South.”
BJP, VHP, RSS and Bajrang Dal workers chanted slogans of Jai Sri Ram and Bharat Mata Ki Jai on the return of Swami Paripoornananda Ji . The spirited welcome prompted him to say, “I am externed from the city alone, but I have returned with thousands.” He further added, “I was externed from the city because I am a sanyasi. Instead of externing goons and anti-nationals, cops externed me. This kind of situation doesn’t exist even in Pakistan. It is illegal on the part of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda police to extern me. An anti-Hindu government is ruling in Telangana, and it is time for the Hindus to unite. I am ready to die for the Dharma.”
He was externed from Hyderabad for six months on the charges of making inflammatory statements in public. However, Hyderabad High Court suspended the orders of the police which paved the way for early entry of Swami Ji into the city. According to a The Hindu report, “On July 9, the Hyderabad city police had placed Swami Paripoornananda under house arrest after he announced his intention to take up a three-day yatra to preach on protecting the Hindu dharma.” Action against Swami Ji came two days after the exile of film critic Kathi Mahesh from the city for making derogatory comments against Hindu gods.
BJP MLA Raja Singh, who accompanied Swami Paripoornanada, told Times of India, “The Swami was externed for 55 days. He said he would be here for 55 years. He said that as he entered the city, the Gokul Chat blast accused were convicted. If September 17 is not declared as Telangana liberation day, the Swamy will protest. Thousands of people, farmers and women welcomed him.”
In view of politics in Telangana, there are speculations that Swami Paripoornananda would possibly join the BJP. Speaking on the same, Paripoornananda had told ANI, “If I have to join, then the party will choose me, why should I run after a party? If there is a similarity in my thoughts and theirs (BJP), then there might be a possibility (of joining).” Swami Paripoornananda- “Yogi of the South”- is very popular among Hindus and Tribals of the region. The BJP and the Sangh family which is trying to increase its clout in Telangana might approach to Swami Ji and could launch him very soon. Swamy Paripoornananda has already confirmed that he will be working with the BJP’s firebrand MLA T Raja Singh in the upcoming Telangana state assembly elections. He also said that, “whoever works for Hindutva, I will work with them.”
Swami Paripoornananda is well known Hindu figure in the southern states. He has lakhs of followers. His devotion to country is admired by many people. His entry into BJP would improve the party’s prospects in the state as well as outside the state in other regions of the south. What BJP is missing in South is a crowd puller, a popular leader. Swami Paripoornananda could fulfill that need at least in Telangana and Andhra region.
