Maharashtra Police ADG (Law and Order) Parambir Singh defended the recent arrest of five alleged Urban Naxals. He said that Pune Police launched a nationwide crackdown against the Urban Naxals only after gathering strong evidences against them, proving their links with banned Maoist groups. He also added, “Investigation revealed that a big controversy was being plotted by Maoist organisations. The accused were helping them to take their goals forward. A terrorist organisation was also involved.”
While addressing the media, PB Singh revealed some shocking details. He said, “There was a larger conspiracy by Maoist organisations to overthrow the lawfully established Indian government using weapons procured from Russia and China. The arrested accused played an active and crucial role in this conspiracy.”
He also said that in a letter by an activist Rona Wilson to comrade Prakash, he talks about ending “Modi-raj” by carrying out a Rajiv Gandhi type incident. The letter also asked for Rs. 8 crore for the annual supply of grenade launchers with four lakh rounds.
He further added, “Rona Wilson wrote to Comrade Prakash of the CPI (Maoist) on April 18, 2017, about procuring M4 grenade launchers and 4 lakh rounds (of ammunition). We have also found a password-protected catalogue of Russian-manufactured grenade launchers on Wilson’s computer. But we do not know whether the Maoists purchased the weapons.”
Quoting from one letter Singh said, “It would benefit us to fast-track the process and get the equipment ready on the ground. We are losing dozens of comrades in encounters in different states which are bound to increase over time. Surendra (Gadling) and V. V. (Rao) both feel that there is a pressing need to inflict heavy damage on the enemy forces, something that we have not been able to do since the 2013 Darbha ambush.” In the letter, Rona Wilson also talk about on being in Contact with an arms supplier in Nepal about procuring the weapons, but only, one of the arrested activist Varavara Rao was authorized by the party to speak to the supplier.
During the briefing, ADG P.B Singh also revealed details of a password protected hard drive. He said that hard drive is the key evidence in the case. It had many documents including exchanges between the activists and the CPI (Maoists) comrades. He informed that police has seized thousands of letters exchanged between the overground and underground groups of Maoists. In some of these letters, there are talks of planning “some big action” which would attract attention. The police also claimed that CPI (Maoist) plot was to bring its overground cadre (Urban Naxals) into action to disrupt the law and order of the state.
Singh said, “When we were confident that clear links have been established then only we moved to take action against these people, in different cities. Evidence clearly establishes their roles with Maoists.” He further added, “After analysing these evidences, we conducted raids in seven locations across the country and arrested five people.”
All the five arrested alleged Urban Naxals including Rona Wilson have been put under house arrest after the Supreme Court’s intervention.
Now, all the evidences are in public domain. The police have all the necessary evidences to prove the involvement of all the arrested people, including Rona Wilson, in carrying out sinister activities. Planning to kill the prime minister of the nation is no less than waging a war against the nation.
When even apex court abdicates its responsibility or may even act partisan, battle will be fought in public domain. That's what Maharashtra police did today. Dangerous precedent? You asked for it

It’s time for the court to award harshest possible punishment to all the arrested alleged Urban Naxals. Such people should not be given VIP treatment like house arrest. Recently, a person who was planning to kill UK PM, jailed for 30 years. Our judiciary should take some inspiration from this and act accordingly.
