After Supreme Court’s verdict today, Ram Mandir is a question of ‘when’ not ‘if’

With a Supreme Court judgement coming out on the Ram Mandir-Ayodhya case today, the course of the case has now changed for the better in favour of the crores of Hindus who were all in favour of building the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. The three judge bench which gave the judgement on the Ayodhya Ram Janmbhoomi case today has swept India and Indians with a surge of emotions. The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra along with Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice Abdul Nazeer gave a 2:1 majority verdict refusing to refer the case to a larger bench. This spells doom for the Congress and the leftist cabal’s efforts to delay the hearings and final judgement on the case till after 2019 elections. The Supreme Court judgement makes it clear that mosque is not essential to Islam and therefore the claims of the Sunni organisations that the Babri mosque is an essential part of Islam is rejected.

Although CJI Dipak Misra is set to retire in the next month, the change of guard in the court is unlikely to have any bearings on the final verdict on the Ayodhya case as the foundation to the final verdict has already been laid out in the judgment given by the CJI Misra led bench today. Now, construction of Ram Mandir is not a question of ‘if’ anymore. It is a question of ‘when’. With the current bench fast-tracking the Ayodhya case, the final verdict is expected to be out very soon. The hearing for the Ayodhya case will commence from 29th October.

Mosque being an integral part of Islam was one of the primary arguments cited by the opposition members and the leftist cabal who wanted to delay the hearings and thereby the final judgement on the Ram Mandir-Ayodhya issue. The SC bench judgement which was read out by Justice Ashok Bhushan who also spoke on behalf of CJI Dipak Misra stated that the Ayodhya issue will be treated only as the case of a property dispute and nothing more. The judgement also clarified that further appeals in the case will start to be heard from October 29 by a three person bench of the Supreme Court. The urgent need to conduct speedy trials combined with the timely and successful solution of the case was also addressed by the SC.

This judgement will go a long way in cementing the claim of the supporters of the Ram Mandir as there is ample evidence to back up the claims of that the Ram Mandir did indeed exist at the disputed site. A property dispute will invariably go in the favour of the Hindus as the many reports which have come out regarding the issue in the past have conclusively proven the existence of a temple on the site prior to the construction of the mosque. The issue has already been going on for too long and the SC bench addressed this issue too in its verdict by refusing to drag the case for longer.

This means that the Bharatiya Janata Party might be able to fulfil its promises of building the Ram Janmbhoomi temple in Ayodhya prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. This was exactly what the Congress was afraid of as the construction of the temple post winning the case in court could give BJP the push it needs to repeat or exceed its performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP and especially PM Modi would be in a celebratory mood right now as this verdict has succeeded in giving them the belief that the temple will be constructed on the site and that too quite soon. CJI Dipak Misra who is set to retire in October has been giving out landmark judgements one after the other, this one judgement in particular beats every other judgement in both significance and magnitude.
