Why team India needs Rahul Dravid as a coach right now

India tour of England presented a dismal sight for the fans of the Indian cricket team, the series which began in July 3rd with a game of the Twenty20 format was disheartening for the Indian supporters. India lost the five test series 4-1 and also lost the three one day matches 2-1. Some solace could be drawn from the fact that India managed to win against England 2-1 in the twenty20 format but then again the joy of winning a test match series can never be compared to a victory in the shortest format of the game. The failure of Indian batsmen to adapt to the seaming and bouncy pitches in England led to the failure of the Indian team, the bowlers had done their fair share in all the matches. Some changes which were made later in on the team failed to show the desired results, there is a need to change the dynamics of the team and also to remove the leaders behind the garb such as the coach of the team. Now would be the perfect time to bring in Rahul Dravid as the coach of the Indian cricket team replacing Ravi Shastri.

Ravi Shastri has failed to maintain the balance of the team, and is failing as a coach, first in South Africa and now England. Rahul Dravid on the other hand has trained India to victory in the Under 19 World Cup and continues to groom them on a daily basis. His coaching skills have been proven time and again and if the Indian seniors team performance overseas is taken into account then it will become apparent that the Indian team needs The Wall, once again. Ravi Shastri has failed to bind the team together and there is a visible disassociation between the team members. Players hardly travel together on foreign tours and some senior players such as Virat Kohli have been given unlimited powers by the current coach Ravi Shastri. Shastri seems to be way too casual in his approach to the game and team building efforts of his have failed drastically. There is a reason why he was allotted the coaching position of the Indian cricket team after the exit of Anil Kumble.

Rahul Dravid as the coach will not only help in building the team once again but will also help in changing the team environment for the better. His expertise in coaching the Indian Under 19 team to victory in foreign conditions will be a boon. There are no fingers which can be raised on the integrity and commitment of Rahul Dravid for India and he will give his very best in raising the overall bar of the Indian team. Ravi Shastri has unfortunately turned into an apologist who has specialisation in defending the poor performance of the team every time a debacle happens. Winning and losing are part of every game but going down without a tough fight is the most shameful deed; in the last two series in South Africa and England unfortunately India has done the same. A change of the Indian team coach will not only help the morale of the Indian players but also give them the edge of understanding conditions in various foreign tour. Rahul Dravid is the perfect man for the job and needs to be given charge of the team as soon as possible if India wants to win in the future.
