Information and Broadcasting Minister of Pakistan has said that Rafale deal controversy is the real reason behind Modi government’s decision to cancel meeting between the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan in New York.

Speaking to India Today, I&B minister of Pakistan-Fawad Hussain Chaudhry- said that the Rafale deal is PM Modi’s “Panama” moment, referring to the corruption investigation which resulted in incarceration of former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif.

Chaudhry said, “We think that Rafale is Panama of Prime Minister Modi.” He further continued, “My reading is that PM Modi is in great trouble on the Rafale deal and he is just trying to divert the attention of the people of India from this graft deal to external issues and trying to make a mountain of a mole. The MEA’s reasons for cancellation of meeting were ridiculous and trivial.”

Pakistan’s statement on Rafale is a clear provocation and interference in India’s domestic matters. Moreover, reasons provided by Chaudhry are absurd to say the least. The talks were cancelled because Pakistan showed its true colors again. Pakistan issued postage stamps commemorating Kashmiri terrorist Burhan Wani as a freedom fighter. Then Pakistan’s army carried out brutal mutilation of Indian soldier’s body. After that Pakistani sponsored terrorists killed three cops in Kashmir. Since the advent of Imran Khan to power, Pakistan time and again has shown that it is a treacherous neighbor which only speaks of peace and at the same time indulges in blatant anti-India activities.

Pakistan’s rant against Rafale deal, Imran Khan’s arrogant tweet after the cancellation of talks only cements the fact that peace talks cannot happen with the terrorist nation-Pakistan. It is not the type of country which wants peace. Pakistan only wants terror and anarchy in the world.

It’s not the first that Chaudhry is making any comments on Rafael deal. Earlier also in a tweet he had targeted PM Modi on Rafael deal. In a tweet, he said, “We reject war mongering by ruling elite of India everyone knows Indian Govt strategy is to use hate mongering against Pak basically to bail PM Modi from call for resignation post French jets Rafael deal and divert attention of Indian public from this mega corruption scandal.”

His comments led to controversy in India. The BJP accused the Congress party of getting support from Pakistan.

The BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “Some people want Rahul Gandhi to become a big leader in India. Who are they? They are Pakistani leaders, and also those who stand for corruption, dynasty and politics of appeasement.” He further added, “What is it that the Congress party and Pakistan have in common? The commonality is that they have frustration with Modi and their only aim is to somehow remove Modi ji from Indian polity.”

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also attacked Congress and Pak on the comments made by Chaudry on Rafale deal is concerned. He said, “Gandhi’s statement was irresponsible and far from the truth. He should stop playing with national security. Rahul is helping Pakistan by repeatedly asking about the cost of Rafale aircraft.” He also said that both Pakistan and Rahul Gandhi are using the same language to target PM Modi over Rafale deal.
