In a case of extreme intolerance, a Christian organization- Indian Church Renewal- has lodged a complaint against Padma Vibhushan music maestro- Ilaiyaraaja- for his opinion over the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  The chief of the organization- Gregory Ashok Arokiasamy- in his petition said that Ilaiyaraaja’s interview at Google’s headquarters in March this year had hurt the feelings of Christians.

Speaking at a Google event, Ilaiyaraaja spoke about controversies surrounding the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He said that there are “proofs as brought out by several YouTube videos” that no resurrection happened with respect to Jesus Christ. He further added the real resurrection the real resurrection happened in the case of Sri Ramana Maharishi. Ilayaraja said that Sri Ramana died at the age of 16 and was born again.

Gregory Ashok Arokiasamy alleged that the legendary music director, Ilaiyaraaja is at fault and had tried to outrage the religious feelings, an offence under Article 295A, and is also subject for defamation. Arokiasamy in his Facebook post, said: “we will not leave you until you kneel down (and seek apology)”.

It seems that Arokiasamy has a problem not only with opinions of Ilaiyaraaja but also with his conversion to Hinduism. Ilaiyaraaja was a born Christian as Daniel Rasappa but later on converted to Hinduism. According to a Swarajya report, he played a pivotal role in building the sixth tier of the Srirangam temple tower. Ilaiyaraaja organized music shows to arrange money for the tower on the request of Kanchi Kamkoti Peetham Shankaracharya Sri Chandrasekharendra Swamigal.

On Social media, people are supporting Ilaiyaraaja for his comments. People are saying that he is entitled to his freedom of speech and expression.

The court has accepted Arokiasamy’s petition and the hearing on the matter will be conducted on 9 October.

The entire episode shows how much intolerant these Christian organizations are. The Christian organizations and missionaries speak all sorts of rubbish about Hindu gods and goddesses, but their rant is defended in the name freedom of speech and expression by the Cabal. If someone questions their religion then they immediately move to court and the entire cabal, by maintaining stoic silence, extends tacit support to them. If someone had said same about anything related to Hindu gods and goddesses then s/he would have hailed as rationalist by the leftist-liberal cabal. People are fed up of this selective outrage and double standard.

The Christian organizations keeps mum on disturbing behavior of Bishops, child trafficking, confessions being used by pastors to blackmail young women but they have a problem with Ilaiyaraaja making an observation about the resurrection. It shows their priorities.
