Gandhi scion is on his four-day visit to Germany and United Kingdom as a part of his party’s NRI outreach program. The Congress President Rahul Gandhi in his address at Kampnagel theatre at Bucerius Summer School in Hamburg, Germany displayed his ignorance and made a shocking statement. He said that lack of jobs led to the creation of ISIS. Gandhi scion citing example of ISIS, said “If you don’t give people a vision in the 21st century, somebody else will give them one and that is the real risk of excluding a large number of people from the development process. Every country faces this risk, if you don’t embrace people, if you don’t give people a vision, somebody else is going to do it and that vision may not be good for you or good for the world.”

During his statement he also said after the US attacked Iraq in 2003, they made a law that restricted entry of a particular tribe in Iraq from getting jobs in the government and in the army. Rahul Gandhi said, “It seemed like a very innocuous decision at that time.” Rahul Gandhi concluded that ultimately this led to the creation of ISIS.

His statement clearly shows his lack of knowledge. Terror attacks happened even before ISIS came to existence with its own unique way of job creation. 9/11 is an example of this. Most of the terrorists in the world are not poor; they come from well to do families and are very rich. For example- Osama Bin Laden came from a wealthy Saudi family. Those Muslims youths, who are joining ISIS from various parts of the world, come from prosperous families and they are very much educated and capable enough to earn more than required to lead a prosperous and happy life. Zimbabwe is one of the poorest nations on earth. It is eleven times poorer than Yemen but still terrorist organizations like ISIS and Al-Qaeda failed to make any presence in Zimbabwe. By the way, Zimbabwe’s Muslim population is less than 1%. Most of the terrorists come from affluent family background be it ISIS’ head Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi or even the terrorists in Kashmir valley come from the well-to-do family background. Recently, in Kashmir, a professor of Kashmir University, Rafi Bhat joined a terrorist organization. He had done a doctorate in Sociology. It goes one to only prove that name, fame, money and education does not pacify devil intentions of anyone. In 2004, Harvard professor Alberto Abadie came up with a research paper for the National Bureau of Economic Research called “Poverty, Political Freedom, and the Root Causes of Terrorism.” In his paper, he concluded that “the risk of terrorism is not significantly higher for poorer countries.” There are many other papers which bust the canard that poverty is the root cause of terrorism. Terrorism has nothing to do with the poverty, but religion, ideology, and self-determination. More than 1 billion people sleep hungry every night but they do not carry out any terrorist attack, hunger does not fight. On the other hand, ISIS terrorists are relatively affluent and carry out terrorist attacks around the world. Poor people don’t commit terrorism but spent most of the time and energy just surviving. World leaders of today in order to sound politically correct, make poverty a scapegoat.

Rahul Gandhi also tried to justify the existence of ISIS by speaking of “competing” visions of the world. He said, “There are a couple of potential visions out there. There is an American vision. There is a European vision. There is a Chinese vision. There is an Indian vision. There is an Islamic State vision. I mean, there are a bunch of visions that are competing.” Basically, he is trying to equate the vision of ISIS with the vision of sovereign nations of the world.

Whatever Rahul Gandhi said was not just an attempt to downplay Islamic Terrorism so that the Congress party can again peddle the canard of Hindu Terror ahead of 2019 general elections. Moreover, the Gandhi scion was not just only downplaying the Islamic terrorism but was also sort of provoking youths of the country and the world to take up the arms in case no one gives them jobs. The canard of ‘unemployment’ and ‘poverty’ has been busted time and again but still the Congress President chooses to employ it for some sinister gains. It shows the desperation level of the Congress. The Grand Old Party of India can go to any extent to come back to power.
