The three day Pondy Lit Fest 2018 is scheduled to begin today and will continue till the 19th of August. The literature festival titled “Bharat Shakti” has been organised to discuss and debate the direction India should take at this important juncture in its history. The issues of world politics, internal disturbances and social unrest which have been doing the rounds in the past few years and possible solutions for the same would be discussed in during the event. Pondy Lit Fest had come under fire from several left-wing organizations and political parties, which wanted to thwart the attempts to let people interested in seeing a healthy debate on India’s favoured path to success. The flak it received from the cabal however only toughened the resolve of the organisers and people involved with the event while exposing the hypocrisy of the ‘FoE’ gang.
Union Minister Smriti Irani, Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi and Chief Minister of Puducherry V Narayanaswamy are expected at the Lit fest. A grand opening ceremony which had been planned was cancelled owing to the sad demise of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The festival however, will go on as planned. Puducherry for the next three days is going to be the host to a rich exchange of ideas related to the country’s growth and development. The lit fest is an important event would be a contributor to Indic Renaissance. This is also a milestone in reclaiming the intellectual space hitherto monopolized by the left-liberal cabal and perhaps that is why so many of them are rattled since the Pondy Lit Fest was announced.
Puducherry, the location of the festival has a rich blend of history of Indian and French culture. The land of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh, location of world renowned Auroville is going to be home to writers, poets, thinkers and artists from the state and all over India. A melee of diversity, the Lit Fest can boast of having writers such as Amish Trivedi (Shiva Trilogy), Gayatri Iyer and Jataayu. The ensemble of former and present politicians too is quite rich with names like ex-MLA from AIADMK and advocate from Tamil Nadu Badar Sayeed, ex-MP Baijayant Jay Panda and Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta. Social thinkers such as Harikiran Vadlamani, Makarand R Paranjape and Pariksith Singh too will grace the event. Actresses Kalki Koechlin, Pallavi Joshi and film maker Vivek Agnihotri too would add the much needed artistic angle to the three day event.
