Meet IAF wing commander Prashanth – Kerala’s new savior

Wing commander prashanth Kerala

The Kerala floods without any doubt stand as one of the most devastating disasters that has struck India in recent years. The floods have taken a heavy toll on many a towns, killing many, while leaving others stranded and some missing.

In such a scenario, the Indian armed forces have turned out to be the saviors of the masses. They’re toiling day and night in order to lessen the deaths caused by the devastating floods in Kerala. Be it evacuating the stranded people through helicopters, boats etc., or sending the required assistance to the right people, the Indian armed forces are doing their job perfectly, without any hassles.

However, one of them has stood out tall, with his heroics being the talk of the town.  Meet wing commander Prashanth, an IAF wing commander and a member of the Garud Special Forces, deputed with the task of evacuating the people stranded in the affected areas through helicopters. He has successfully rescued more than a dozen people singlehandedly as of now. In a recently published video by India Today, one can see as to how he risked his life to rescue people stranded in the flood affected areas:-

In this video, one can see how Wing Commander Prashanth jumps down from the helicopter and rescues a toddler, delivering her safely into safe hands before going down once again for evacuating the rest of the stranded folks. Like a true commando, he cared for one thing and one thing only: Duty before Self.

This is not the first instance of such heroics going viral. Only a few days earlier, the Indian Navy earned praise from all corners of the country for their impeccable conduct in such an environment, including the heroic rescue of a pregnant lady, whose water had broken. Such incidents only maintain the immense pride we have for our armed forces, who continue to protect us, whether within the nation or outside.

As such this conduct of Wing Commander Prashanth should not be left ignored and unrewarded, and he should be rightly rewarded for his gallant actions in saving so many lives. No wonder why one cannot help but remember this unforgettable quote, famously quoted in ‘Schindler’s List’: ‘Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire.’

Kerala floods are an event which has tested our resolve as committed citizens to the cause of humanity. With the help pouring in from all corners of the nation, we should also keep note of the valor that the Indian armed forces have displayed in rescuing the masses. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, whenever someone is in trouble, the Indian armed forces will be there to assist them. It’s another matter altogether that very few of us have the courage to acknowledge their efforts in sustaining the hard-earned freedom and the values that make our nation.
