Practice what you preach. An age old saying which hold specially for people who are at an influential point in their life. Samajwadi Party leader and ex-CM of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav is definitely one of the people for whom this quality is a must have. Recent incidents have however shown that the SP leader doesn’t just lack this quality but also lies blatantly. Akhilesh Yadav along with his wife Dimple Yadav have forwarded an application to the Lucknow Development Authority for construction of a hotel in the middle of the state capital. The proposed hotel will be built in an area spread over 23,000 square feet and is located on 1A, Vikramaditya Marg. It is also noteworthy that the government bungalow recently vacated by Akhilesh Yadav was on 4 Vikramaditya Marg. It is therefore surprising to learn that a property which had been in his possession since 2005 had not been developed while Mr. Akhilesh wanted to continue living in the government bungalow on taxpayer money.

This proposal by Akhilesh Yadav sheds light on how the hypocritical so called ‘socialist’ leaders behave in the real world. A 23,000 square feet property would have been more than enough to house Akhilesh Yadav’s family along with most of the leaders of SP. BSP leader Mayawati and Akhilesh both however wanted to enjoy the maximum possible benefits out of public money. The SP leader had even tried to delay vacating his bungalow by crying for unavailability of flats to move in when the UP-government notification had come. A news channel had quoted him as saying, “I am still looking for a flat on rent in Lucknow. I have not been able to build a house for myself so far.” He had unsuccessfully tried to delay the process of vacating his bungalow for two years by giving such random complaints. Twitter users however saw through the antics of UPs ex-CM and had become pro active in helping their former CM find a place. The hilarious conversations on Twitter ranged from tagging property sites and apps to homeowners offering their own houses at special discounts for the SP leader.

The unsuccessful petition of Akhilesh Yadav and this recent discovery show the contrast between what socialist leaders preach and practice. For all the tall claims they make of being pro-poor and anti-corruption, they are nothing more than leeches who are just waiting to get their hands on an opportunity to enjoy privileges at the cost of public money. A 25,000 square feet property located in the heart of Lucknow, the capital of UP and Akhilesh Yadav couldn’t manage to find a home for himself. Funny, isn’t it? But it is ghastly if you think about it. It exposes his mentality and that of those who claim to be champions of the poor in the country.

Akhilesh Yadav is an example which needs to be borne in mind every time one goes in to vote. The trap of these leaders who want to cast the web of disillusionment over the public so that they can siphon off public funds need to be exposed. This incident has also proved that the hypocrisy of people is exposed sooner or later. We wish Akhilesh Yadav all the best for the hotel project and we would advise him not to use the faucets he had taken from the government bungalow in the new hotel which is being constructed just a few meters away from his ex-residence.
