The Bharatiya Janata Party appointed Anurag Thakur, 43-year old lawmaker from Himachal Pradesh, as BJP’s Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha ahead of the commencement of Parliament’s monsoon session. A party chief whip is the one who is responsible for the party’s discipline and behaviour on the floor of the house. Usually, he/she commands the party members to stick to the party’s stand on certain issues and commands them to vote as per the direction of senior party members. It means that Anurag Thakur who is one of the youngest parliamentarians has been entrusted with a huge responsibility on his young shoulders.
Anurag Thakur replaced Rakesh Singh as party’s Chief Whip. Rakesh Singh was recently appointed as Madhya Pradesh BJP President. Madhya Pradesh is going to enter in election phase very soon, so he will be busy looking after BJP’s election strategy in MP. BJP Lok Sabha MP from Bengaluru South and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Ananth Kumar congratulated Anurag Thakur and wished all the best for this new role.

Wishing him all the best in the new role, in the service of Indian democracy

Ahead of 2019 General Elections, it’s good that the party is entrusting youngsters with big responsibilities. Youngsters like Anurag Thakur are the future of the party. By promoting youngsters, BJP is preparing our future leaders who would take the country forward. Steps like these would also encourage the youths to join the politics and lead the nation towards growth and development. It will increase the political representation of youths in Indian politics. The youths are the biggest agent of change and are pillars of nation-building.
