When it comes to appeasement West Bengal, Trinamool Congress Government of Mamata Banerjee stands first in its own league. The party is infamous for practising Muslim appeasement politics of altogether different level. For Mamata Government secularism means appeasement. Mamata in the name of secularism grants funds to madarsa, dole out goodies and freebies, special schemes for Muslims not just this but also allowing illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and Rohingyas to settle in West Bengal and create riots in the state. All this is done just for loyal vote bank. Recently she refused to attend NITI Aayog meeting for her some secular reasons. She said, ” I am not going to the NITI Aayog meeting. It has been called on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr. I don’t go out of the state during the festival days. There is a national holiday on the occasion of Eid.”  On the occasion of Ram Navmi when the West Bengal was burning in riots she was in New Delhi for third front related issue. It is because of politicians like her who practice appeasement politics. Her party is notorious for shifting Hindu festivals due to Muslim appeasement.

The party which is indulged in heavy Muslim appeasement politics is now having problem with the state governor KN Triphati asking vice chancellors of state universities to celebrate International Yoga Day on 21st June. TMC called this move of Governor as, “unprecedented and unacceptable”. West Bengal education minister, Partha Chatterjee said, “The norm is that state government sends letters to the state universities. But this time, we are seeing that the Governor, in his capacity as chancellor of state universities, has directly written letters to the V-Cs, urging them to celebrate International Yoga Day. This is unprecedented and unacceptable.” He further added, ” The governor himself should think whether this amounts to violation of norms. We are not taking this decision in good humour.”  It seems Education minister does not have the knowledge that the Governor is the chancellor of all the state universities and he doesn’t have to take any permission from the supreme leader of the state, Mamta Banerjee. Partha Chatterjee later said that their government does not have any problem with the Yoga but they have problem with the procedure. However, this excuse does not hold any water and whatever Governor has done is in compliance with the Constitution. The Governor has written those letters in his capacity as the Chancellor of the state universities. The Governor’s press secretary Manab Bandyopadhyay confirmed the same. According to Indian Express, he said, ” Tripathi has advised the vice-chancellors to celebrate the day to make the students, faculty and staff members aware of the positive effect of yoga. A copy of the letter was also sent to the state higher education minister.”

It has become a habit of the state government of West Bengal to oppose anything and everything related with Hindu Culture. Yoga is good for health and mind. Troubled minded TMC minister should do Yoga regularly. When a festival like Eid can be celebrated throughout the state with the support of state government then what’s the problem with celebrating Yoga Day? This is just communal hypocrisy of TMC and they are not just embracing, they are celebrating it.
