Congress President, Rahul Gandhi on Thursday appointed Sreenivasan Krishnan, who was also Robert Vadra’s business partner, as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary of the Telangana State. Supposedly, Vadra is the biggest and the only beneficiary of Rajiv Gandhi ‘Damaad’ Vikas Yojana. With the help of astute farming skills and hard work he started many companies. But, Robert Vadra and his company has been facing troubles since the past few years for shady land deals which resulted in huge profits for his company. The first voice against the suspicious activities of Robert Vadra was raised by Haryana IAS officer Ashok Khemka in 2013. Khemka accused Vadra and his Skylight Hospitality group of purchasing and selling land worth crores of rupees in Gurugram, Haryana. Khemka’s allegations were followed by Rao Inderjit Singh, a former Congress minister who publicly demanded a detailed investigation in the irregularities in the land license issued to Vadra. It was surprising for many that a Congress Party leader had decided to open his mouth and ask for an investigation against the son-in-law of the then Congress Party president Sonia Gandhi. Vadra’s troubles have constantly increased over the subsequent years as his company became linked with cases related to land grabbing in Rajasthan as well.
Robert Vadra’s business partner Sreenivasan Krishnan is as famous and as controversial as Robert Vadra himself. According to report published by PGURUS, Sreenivasan Krishnan worked as co-director in many controversial firms of Robert Vadra. The report further claims, he served as the director in the aviation charter firm Blue Breeze Trading whose first director’s were Robert Vadra and his wife Priyanka Vadra in the year 2008. Very Soon Sreenivasan replaced Priyanka Gandhi after she resigned. He was also a Director in other controversial firms of Vadra linked with real estate giant DLF partnerships too.
Sreenivasan is considered as big player in the Congress. It is believed that he is associated with Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and is also an office bearer is Shashi Tharoor’s new initiative Professional Congress. He was also a former Doordarshan official and an Indian Information Service official. He resigned from Indian Information Services in 1999 and associated himself with Sonia Gandhi’s Secretarial team, he worked as an assistant there. People say that mentor of Sreenivasan is a guy called Madhavan who is looking after the Secretarial works of Priyanka Gandhi. Dubai based controversial businessman CC Thampi is very close with Sreenivasan. Thampi also has a business deal with Robert Vadra. Last year Enforcement Directorate (ED) had slapped a notice of Rs. 288 crore on Thampi under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) violations.
Despite being of the controversial background of functioning Robert Vadra’s tainted companies, Rahul Gandhi decided to make Sreenivasan secretary of the Telangana Congress. It is another example of rampant nepotism prevalent in the Congress party. This is all what can be expected from a person who himself is prime accused in National Herald scam. It also implies that in some way or the other Priyanka Vadra is influencing affairs of the Congress party.
