Indian Army soldiers have carried out another surgical strike on the soil of another country, this time it is Myanmar and not Pakistan. The Indian Army has reportedly carried out a successful surgical strike on camp belonging to the Khaplang faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland.  The camp which was located at Shwelo, three kilometres inside Myanmar territory was struck by a team of 12 Para commandos. The NSCN-K (National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang) faction of rebels suffered at least four to five casualties, an Army official told IANS. The Army officer further said, “A team of 12 Para Commandos attacked a check post of the NSCN-K situated in the vicinity of its Shwelo camp inside Myanmar on Wednesday. The gunfight continued for half hour”. The Indian Army commandos were equipped with rocket launchers, mortars and automatic grenade launchers for the strike. According to the Army official the whole operation took place at 3 kms beyond border pillar 151 on the India-Myanmar border across Nagaland’s Mon district.

National Socialist Council of Nagaland is a Christian Naga insurgent group which dreams of creating a separate Nagaland. Their slogan “Nagaland for Christ” is enough to make one understand the motives of this insurgent group which is labelled by the Ministry of Home Affairs in India as a major insurgent group. The NSCN (K) faction was also branded as a terrorist organisation by India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act following the ambush on an army convoy in Manipur in which 18 soldiers of the Indian Army lost their lives. The group is accused of assassination, rapes, and forced conversions to Christianity along with committing terrorist activities. NSCN had joined hands with the United Liberation Front of Western South East Asia following which it had broken off the peace talks with the Indian government. NSCN has two factions one led by Thuingaleng Muivah NSCN (I-M) and the second faction is the one led by Myanmar born late Shangwang Shangyung Khaplang, which is the NSCN (K).

The NSCN (K) Deputy Minister Isak Sumi confirmed that Indian Army had indeed carried out an attack on the checkpost after having crossed international borders. He took to Facebook to confirm the happenings of the surgical strike, his post reads, “On realisation that their presence has already been detected they resorted to blank firings randomly for several minutes to which the Naga Army responded and prevented any further advance. Casualties could not be ascertained”. His post shared on Facebook will be enough to satisfy Arvind Kejriwal and Congress President Rahul Gandhi amongst others of his cabal who had earlier doubted the happenings of a surgical strike in Pakistani territory. The extermination of the NSCN (K) along with other insurgent groups operating in the North East is a necessary task and it should be carried out at the earliest. For far too long these religious and separatist groups have been wreaking havoc in our country, they are the principal reason for North East India remaining in an underdeveloped state. These foreign funded Christian groups should be exterminated at all costs so that peace in the North Eastern states can be fully achieved. Kudos to the Indian Army and the central government for carrying out this bold attack.
