Maharashtra police arrested Rona Wilson, Surendra Gadling, Mahesh Raut, Shoma Sen and Sudhir Dhawle over Bhima-Koregaon riots that broke out in January 2018 that shook entire Maharashtra. They have been arrested from Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur after the police raids. The arrested people are allegedly Naxal sympathizers. Mahesh Raut is former Prime Minister’s rural development fellow. Rona Wilson is Ex-JNUite and DSU activist and it is also believed he is very close to Delhi University Professor GN Saibaba who was arrested last year.

Jacob Rana is the leader of Republican Panthers Jati Antachi Chalwal. Advocate Surendra Gadling is Nagpur based activist and Shoma Sen is Nagpur University Professor. Her husband Tusharkant Bhattacharya too had been arrested earlier for his alleged links with the Maoists. And last but not the least, according to police, Sudhir Dhawle, by profession a Mumbai based professor, is a Left-wing extremist and member of the Kabir Kala Kanchan, which is very well known for its links with Maoists. This Naxal-Nexus sounds very similar to what Vivek Agnihotri described in his book Urban Naxals. All the suspected Urban Naxals have been arrested under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

According to New Indian Express, Police termed the arrested persons as ‘top urban maoist operatives.’ According to the Police, they all have been arrested allegedly for distributing controversial pamphlets and making inflammatory speeches during an Elgar Parishad event. Their inflammatory speeches promoted enmity between the two groups and it also incited violence. On December 31, 2017, The Elgar Parishad was organised at Shaniwarwada Fort. Thousands of Dalits were gathered in Bhima-Koregaon to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Bhima-Koregaon battle in which a British Army dominated by members of Mahar community defeated Maratha army of Peshwas. Leftist historians made them to believe it was a victory over caste oppression. Violence between the two groups resulted in the death of one person on 1st January 2018. This led to state-wide violent protests and destruction of public property. Elgar Parishad event was also attended by controversial Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mewani and member of ‘Tukde Tukde’ gang and notorious JNU student Umar Khalid. After the violence, a case was registered against both of them for allegedly delivering provocative speeches. In a shocking revelation, according to Times Now report, Rahul Gandhi allegedly helped suspected Maoists in Bhima – Koregaon violence.

Those arrested are allegedly linked to the Naxals and their link with anti-Modi forces establishes a clear link between the breaking India forces and the anti-Modi forces. These arrests by Maharashtra police have exposed the links between these two. It is expected that many such violent protests are being planned to carry out before 2019 General elections.

It was already known that Urban Maoists are active in the cities to wage war against the state. Today, boldness shown by Devendra Fadnavis exposed their sinister agenda to the public. Earlier when such things happened usually the culprits and masterminds used to get away. But this time Devendra Fadnavis traced them down and brought them to justice. These people are very dangerous as they don’t think twice before spilling the blood of innocents for their political objectives. This is a dirty game supported by the previous regimes but now this government has decided to end this process of making blood money. First, they cracked down heavily on the NGOs and their foreign funding, started killing Naxals in Jungles in larger number and now cracking down on the Urban Naxals who provide funds and ideological supports to the Naxals of Jungle. This is the real Swach Bharat Abhiyaan.
