Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is back after undergoing a prolonged treatment for his kidney ailments at AIIMS, New Delhi. Arun Jaitley was admitted in AIIMS in early April after he was bedridden for a considerable amount of time owing to his health issues. What he did to announce his re-entry in active politics is by shredding the lies spread by Rahul Gandhi in his Mandsaur rally. Rahul Gandhi addressed the rally held by farmers who were mourning the death of six farmers in police firing last year. Rahul Gandhi saw it as a great opportunity to start the campaigns for Madhya Pradesh state elections which is scheduled to be held later this year. Rahul in his speech at the rally made up facts and fabricated lies of all sorts to target the Narendra Modi led central government. The reply for Rahul’s foolish words came from somewhere he would have least expected. In an article, ‘How much does he know’ on the party’s website and Facebook, FM Arun Jaitley slammed Congress President Rahul Gandhi for spreading lies.

The article was published late in the evening by FM Arun Jaitley on Facebook yesterday. The article starts with addressing the basic question which every Indian has pondered over at least once in his life, “How much does he know? When will he know?”. The aforementioned ‘he’ refers to the prodigal son of Sonia Gandhi, the incumbent Congress President, Rahul Gandhi. In the article Arun Jaitley goes on to say that after listening to Rahul Gandhi “both inside and outside Parliament”, he is genuinely concerned about whether Rahul is being briefed too little or is he going way over the top while talking about facts. What follows is a point by point takedown of distorted facts which were presented by Rahul Gandhi in his Mandsaur speech.
Rahul Gandhi in his Mandsaur speech had wrongly accused PM Modi led central government of waiving loans of Rs 2.5 lakh crores of 15 top industrialists in the country. Arun Jaitley rebutted in his article that “The Government has not waived of a single rupee due from any industrialist”. Far from it the industrialists who could not repay the money owed to banks and other creditors have been declared insolvent followed by their removal from companies by IBC enacted by PM Modi. FM Jaitley ended this point with an important fact that those loans were given to these industrialists during the Congress led UPA government rule. The second factually incorrect claim made by Rahul Gandhi was that loans were not made available to the farmers under the BJP government which distributed loans only to the industrialists. FM Jaitley countered this by pointing out that the bulk of NPAs today had their roots in UPA I & II era. The BJP government in fact was working hard to recover the money from these NPAs given by the banks during 2008-14.
Rahul Gandhi’s claim that the BJP government had helped two diamond jewelers by giving them loans of Rs 35000 crores each, is also busted .The article points out that the whole fraud started in 2011 when Congress II was in power. BJP had in fact detected the ongoing fraud and had pursued it effectively in the present time. Rahul Gandhi had also claimed that if Congress comes back in power it would make sure that manufacturing of mobile phones will start in India on a grand scale. FM Jaitley’s rebuttal is crisp and precise in this one, he goes on to point that till 2014 when Congress led UPA II was in power there were only 2 mobile manufacturing units in India. The NDA government through its push and the revamped electronic policy has increased that number to 120 units with investments of Rs 1,32,000 crores.
Rahul Gandhi’s dubious claims of jobs not being created in India was also countered by Arun Jaitley, who cites the latest GDP data and the booming growth in construction, manufacturing and the increased capital formation (both in urban and rural areas), which is a sure shot sign of increased job opportunities in India. This type of growth is impossible without having jobs in the market. The last point countered by FM Jaitley was regarding the statement given by Rahul Gandhi regarding Madhya Pradesh. FM Jaitley reminds Rahul Gandhi that his image of Madhya Pradesh is probably stuck in the Digvijay Singh era. Madhya Pradesh has seen rapid development under Shivraj Singh Chouhan led BJP government in the state and the road networks have drastically improved in the last four years. Arun Jaitley also pointed out that the investment in rural roads under the BJP government has tripled compared to the investment done by Congress government in Madhya Pradesh.
This point by point takedown of Rahul Gandhi’s speech signifies that Arun Jaitley is back . He might not be physically 100% fit, but even his 60% is enough to effectively counter Rahul Gandhi and his ilk. We wish you a speedy recovery Mr. Jaitley and thank you for this effective takedown which will hurt Rahul to the core. Although we are not sure whether Rahul Gandhi will be briefed about this or the Congress will continue to shield him and let him stay in delusion.
