Bengaluru techie detained for questioning Rajdeep Sardesai

Agenda-diven ‘journalist’ Rajdeep Sardasei is at the centre of yet another controversy. The journalist who is infamous for the Madison Square incident where he is said to have provoked some NRIs during prime minister Modi’s visit to the US and thereafter indulged in an ugly scuffle with them. Rajdeep had another embarrassing moment when a local techie in Bengaluru came out exposing Rajdeep’s pseudo-secular journalism and Hindu bashing agenda in the restaurant where Rajdeep was having breakfast.

From the video it seems that the techie is just asking certain questions to the controversial journalist. However, the media has already given the story a twist. They are trying to pass off simple questioning by the techie as heckling. If one looks at the video it is clear that the techie is just asking a few questions to Rajdeep.

It seems that the techie has been made to face the heat for confronting a pro-Congress journalist. Even though there are no news reports to confirm this, it appears that the innocent techie has been illegally detained without even an FIR. Several twitter users have reported that the innocent citizen has been arrested by the Bengaluru police without any plausible ground. Shefali Vaidya and SG Suryah have revealed the illegal detention of the local techie. Shefali Vaidya spoke about how Rajdeep Sardesai himself enjoys unbridled freedom and engages in even scuffles and hurls abuses at others but never faces any repercussions. However, he got an ordinary Bengaluru citizen detained illegally for over ten hours for merely asking a question.  SG Suryah, in his tweet, wondered whether Rajdeep Sardesai is beyond criticism and demanded that the detainee be released immediately. Meanwhile, Shobha Karandlaje, former minister in Karnataka and Member of Parliament from Udupi-Chickmagalur constituency has taken cognizance of the matter and has promised that necessary help will be extended by the BJP legal cell in the matter.

If the claims of the ordinary citizen being detained are true, it is outrageous and indicative of how Siddaramaiah is virtually running a dictatorship in Karnataka. The fact that the claim has not been ridiculed either by the mainstream media or by the Karnataka police/ government makes it all the more plausible. It goes on to suggest that under the Siddaramaiah administration only those have a right to speak who speak in the language of Congress and pseudo-secularism. If one dares to take a different political line or speak for Hindu rights, he will be instantly labeled as a goon and put behind the bars without even being informed of the grounds and without any proper FIR. There is absolutely no respect for individual freedom and tenets of liberty under the Siddaramaiah government.

Rajdeep Sardesai has a huge support base behind him. The whole anti-Hindu and agenda-driven cabal of news traders, especially the english outlets, are going to rally behind him no matter what. In fact, they have already started spinning off the story as heckling of Rajdeep Sardesai. Media outlets are referring to the techie as a supporter of Prime Minister Modi and it is possible that the Bengaluru story will soon be given an anti-Modi spin off. It is also possible that the travesty of justice caused by the illegal detention is silently brushed under the carpet. The innocent techie is being blamed for being discourteous and indecent towards Rajdeep Sardesai. However, one does not understand who gave the right to media outlets to land a citizen in jail if they think that his behaviour is ‘indecent’. Even if we were to assume in the wildest of our dreams, that he was indecent or even aggressive in tone for that matter how does that become an actionable ground to land him in jail. Media should not consider itself free from criticism and above the law. Media, under the Indian law, does not exercise greater freedom of expression compared to an ordinary citizen. If media can question and even ridicule any citizen that they want to, even ordinary citizens can and they will, no matter how much people like Rajdeep Sardesai try to suppress them.
