Exodus of Hindu families in Agra

In a chilling news report, it has come to light that Hindu families living in Shastri Nagar colony of Shamshabad road in Agra city of Uttar Pradesh have been forced to migrate due to the harassment of the families by influential and anti-social elements belonging to a ‘particular community’. This unfortunate incident has been reported by One India and Patrika.

The Hindu families victimized in Shastri Nagar colony, Agra city ,carried out an agitation accusing the troublesome members of the “particular community”. The Hindu families living under fear in the area complained that some of the fundamentalists bring anarchic people in the region who then indulge in unruly behavior hurling abuses and communal barbs at the Hindus. It is alleged that the “particular community” living in the paavan dham mod are hell-bent on driving out the Hindus from the particular area. Reportedly, Hindus in the area have now unanimously decided to sell of their properties and flee to some other area.

Notice boards stating *house for sale” similar to the ones that had become prevalent when Hindu families were migrating from Kairana have come up in Shastri Nagar also. The Hindus in the region believe that if they flee they will at least be able to keep their daughters safe. It has been reported that anti-Hindu elements in the area routinely pass vulgar and obscene remarks towards Hindu women and girls living in Shastri Nagar. Women have been forced to remain in their houses due to the threats extended by the miscreants and girls are not able to step out of their houses for attending school. The hooligans belonging to the “particular community” in the region have already grabbed a plot of land in the colony where the Hindus reside. They are now illegally occupying this plot and are threatening Hindus to sell off their properties or otherwise they will be forcibly dispossessed of their houses and plots.

It is being alleged by the victim families that they have complained before the district authorities a number of times but the authorities have not taken any action. It is believed that due to inaction on the part of the district administration things have further deteriorated. The miscreants have been emboldened and they are now harassing the Hindu families openly.

This is worrying news for the state of Uttar Pradesh, which ever since the Yogi government stormed to power has been very strict on matters relating to law and order. The state machinery, especially the police force has been on its toes against the anti-social elements. In a big victory against local Islamic extremism for the Yogi government it had come to light that Kairana which had seen a massive evacuation of the Hindus during the Akhilesh government has returned to normalcy with the Hindus coming back to their houses in the town of Kairana. While extortions and crimes against Hindus had forced Hindus to flee from Kairana, the Yogi government has ensured peace and prosperity in the region in a short span of time. This led to the Hindu families coming back to their original houses.

However, the recent report of an exodus in an Agra colony suggests that the fundamentalist groups and anti-social elements have made it an object to continue with their ulterior motives. It is now up to the Yogi government to give a befitting reply and take on those behind who are behind this shameful exodus. There is also a need of apprehending such nefarious and taking preemptive action. The right to live in any corner of the country is a fundamental right to all citizens including the Hindus. Therefore, Hindus can’t be made to run for their lives and flee their homes just because of a “particular community”.
