Taking time out from the busy schedule owing to the upcoming Karnataka elections campaign, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah addressed a rally in Rae Bareli today. He was accompanied by Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath and state BJP head MN Pandey. This rally held in the bastion of Congress is the sounding of the election bugle by the BJP. The rally was organized just a few days after the long overdue visit of Sonia Gandhi to her constituency, Rae Bareli, after a gap of nearly 2 years. The rally is an acknowledgment of the “Congress mukt Rae Bareli” campaign by the BJP after the regular visits of Smriti Irani in the Amethi which has disturbed the peace of mind for Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership. The next attack on the Congress is on and if the rally is an indicator then it is Rae Bareli.

The rally held on the GIC grounds has been organized by the assistance of Congress MLC Dinesh Pratap Singh who, along with his brother Awadhesh Singh, the Zila Panchayat chairman in Rae Bareli joined the BJP at the event. The huge turnout at the rally has further managed to drive home the point of BJP’s commitment towards uprooting the Congress party from Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Termed as Amit Shah’s “Mission 80” the plan is to rattle the Congress party in its stronghold by clinching the Rae Bareli and Amethi seats.

In the rally held today, CM Yogi and Amit Shah welcomed the MLC and his brother to the folds of BJP. The “Panchwati Parivar”, as it is commonly known, is a well known family from Rae Bareli and has joined the BJP alongwith its massive supporter base. The cadres of the supporters of the MLC were also welcomed in speeches given by both the top leaders. Taking them as an example, Shah also expressed that the Modi government’s wholehearted public welfare projects have made people from every walk of life to join the BJP.

Amit Shah congratulated CM Yogi and his cabinet for their efforts in bringing down the crime rate substantially ever since the BJP government came to power. Shah mentioned that the criminals have started fleeing from the state ever since the state government had begun the crackdown on criminals which had greatly increased the sense of safety and security in UP. Amit Shah also applauded the CM Yogi Cabinet for the improved condition of the roads in the state. Taking a dig at the divisive politics of the opposition, led by the Congress party, Shah also criticized the allegations of “saffron terrorism” raised by the Congress party. He called it a cheap shot by the defunct think tank of the Congress party which had maligned the image of the nation in the world.

Many more of such direct attacks in the heartland of Congress party were made by the BJP leaders which were received enthusiastically by the public at the rally. Congress party might try to maintain a straight face today but tension will be palpable in the minds of the Congress party leaders. They understand that Amethi and Rae Bareli could soon become a lost cause come the elections in 2019. The BJP will be delighted with the response they received today at the rally. This might just be the start BJP needed in UP before 2019 while it could mark the end for Congress party in the state and center entirely. Sonia Gandhi should start preparing to bid farewell to her active political career, because Shah and Yogi seem to be preparing for it quite nicely.
