If the Samajwadi Party mirrors the pseudo-secularism of the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, it is Akhilesh Yadav who acts as the Rahul Gandhi of the Samajwadi Party and Uttar Pradesh. The former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh tried to portray himself as a powerless chief minister who could not perform well due to the fetters imposed by his relatives. The Samajwadi Party tried to create an image of Akhilesh Yadav of a well-read youth having received overseas education. However, some of the recent remarks and actions on the part of the failed leader have made it clear that Akhilesh Yadav is nothing more than a motor-mouth. He has been caught time and again for making bizarre and meaningless comments.

This time around, Akhilesh Yadav posted a news report on his twitter handle in an attempt to corner incumbent CM Yogi Adityanath. However, it seems that he has ended up exposing his own incompetence and administrative failures while in office. Akhilesh Yadav then tried to blast the CM Yogi government suggesting that the government has not discharged thousands of crores of dues to the sugarcane farmers across the state. He went on to call the CM Yogi government incompetent. According to him, the government is making excuses of audit reports, random investigations and inquiries. What Akhilesh failed to notice, was that the news report regarding Shamli district is dated 23rd April 2017. He mistook the news as being reported on 23rd April 2018. Therefore, in an attempt to corner the CM Yogi government he ended up exposing the wrong doings of the preceding Samajwadi government. It must be borne in mind that the Akhilesh government had demitted office in late March. As pointed out by the news report, it appears that the Akhilesh government had been negligent in discharging sugarcane dues leading to a colossal pile up of arrears. This is an indicator of incompetence of Akhilesh Yadav. He carries a ‘good for nothing’ personality and his activism might prove to be nemesis of the Samajwadi Party itself.

Akhilesh Yadav’s foot in the mouth moment provided a golden opportunity to the BJP to corner the Samajwadi Property. UP BJP spokesperson, Shalabh Mani Tripathi latched onto this opportunity. He exposed the unrealistic promises made by the Akhilesh government during its tenure including the Purvanchal expressway, metro projects, etc. In a strong attack at the SP leader, Tripathi made it clear that those who used to operate in a world of their own were destined to make such exposes that ended up exposing themselves. Tripathi further made it clear that the dues attributable to poor functioning under the Akhilesh government are now being discharged by the CM Yogi government.

After this self goal, it is clear that Akhilesh government is of no use for the Samajwadi Party. Belonging to the same genus of incompetent dynast as Rahul Gandhi, he will only expose the misdeeds of his own party. He has come under the scanner in the past also for making self-harming remarks including the bitter sarcasm on the people of Uttar Pradesh after losing the 2017 assembly elections. Instead of gracefully accepting the massive defeat, he had ended up portraying himself and his own party as sore losers cribbing about an electoral trounce and questioning the electorate itself. During demonetisation also, he had ended up bringing shame to his own party when he floated an absurd economic theory that laundered money is the backbone of any robust economy. These instances prove that Akhilesh Yadav is not the ideal, well-educated reformist politician that the media and other biased commentators were projecting him to be. He is just another incompetent and unsuccessful dynast who is clueless regarding administrative efficacy and Indian politics.
