Kejriwal’s new Melodramatic Ad withheld by the Government

Kejriwal Ad

Looks like the political entertainer Arvind Kejriwal, is all set to make a grand comeback. The incumbent Chief Minister of Delhi NCR, who has done everything except efficient administration in these 3 years, and has also gifted the benefits of smog, crumbling infrastructure, excessive minority appeasement, and apathetic governance to his region, is now currently in news for the withholding of his latest ad .

Before going deeper into the ad, let’s see how ad obsessed the current CM is. In a bid to promote himself as the living portrayal of Anil Kapoor’s character in ‘Nayak’, Arvind Kejriwal has pulled out all stops for the same, even if it costs the struggling citizens of the Delhi in crores.

This approach was clearly on the incessant campaign that not only helped him spring back into power into the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, but also helped him gain a foothold as a potential opposition candidate, before his personal slugfest with PM Modi brought him down.

From his hilarious ‘Phone mat kaatna campaign’, to his over the top singing skills, in order to woo the populace of UP and Punjab, Arvind Kejriwal has not missed a single opportunity to deify himself as ‘The messiah of Common Man’, who can do no wrong, even if the actual ground work says otherwise. Following are some of his best ads [in terms of hilarity]:-

Kejriwal’s fascination with ads doesn’t stop only at his self promotion. BJP being their chief opposition, Kejriwal and his cronies of Aam Aadmi Party left no stone unturned in demonizing the incumbent party at the Central Government, and portraying them as ‘roadblocks’. He even went to hilariously claim that seeing his immense popularity amongst the masses of Delhi, PM Modi went enraged and is now on a mission ‘to murder him’, evoking more laughter than sympathy. Kejriwal crossed all limits, when in his opposition, he even questioned the veracity of the daring surgical strikes that the Indian Army had made in the wake of the Uri attacks of 2016.

As his tussle with Arun Jaitley fizzled out the activist in him, Kejriwal stayed dormant for a while. However, the recent withholding of his ad, by government officials, is now sure to propel him into another confrontation with the Central Government. The ad is about the glorious rule of Arvind Kejriwal over Delhi for the past 3 years, where Kejriwal reportedly highlights the achievements of his Delhi Government. The line, which has now become the bone of contention, is ‘Jab aap sacchai aur imandari ke raste par chalte hai to brahmand ki saari drishya evam adrishya shaktiyan aapki madad karti hai (When you walk on the path of truth and honesty, all visible and invisible powers of the universe help you)’

Before the ad is finally broadcasted, as per the recent norms, it has to be sent to the Directorate of Information and Publicity, where the officials shall review the ad and give their clearance for the broadcasting. Now, as per the Supreme Court guidelines on the government advertisements, all facts have to be checked and cleared by all the departments mentioned in the advertisement before they are published or aired. The line mentioned in the AAP ad has now put the DIP officials in a fix, who have refused to clear it, until the facts are clearly verified.

While the step by DIP officials is certainly commendable, given that AAP govt. has already drained more than Rs. 700 crores on such advertisements till date, we can’t help but imagine another political wrangle between Kejriwal and Modi government, because as one opposition leader rightly said, ‘Kejriwal can make news out of nothing.’
