December 2017 is the Deadline for Terror Free Kashmir. I thought it is an exaggeration, but now I am sure it is not

NIA Army Kashmir

The honeymoon of terrorists and seperatists in the valley has finally ended. The forces finally seemed to have gotten the much needed freedom to operate with a free hand by the BJP-led government at the centre.

1st August, 2017 would mark another successful field day for the security forces who managed to trace wanted terrorist Abu Dujana in Pulwama, J&K. The slain terrorist was believed to be the divisional head of banned terrorist group Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

After successfully escaping and evading the Security forces five times, Abu finally met his fate and became the 102nd casualty of the list of terrorists killed since January 2017. The tally, marks the highest number of terrorist eliminations since 2010 is because of the aggressive zero tolerance policy that the government has adopted against terrorism in Kashmir. Soldiers have been instructed clearly: Stop or ELIMINATE! Nothing more, nothing less. If the sources are correct, almost all the armed units of Indian forces in Kashmir have taken a vow to eliminate all the terrorists by the end of December this year. If all goes well, we don’t know of a Congress Mukt Bharat, but going by the current performance of the Indian armed forces, a Terrorist Mukt Kashmir might become a reality soon.

Abu Dujana, being the latest of the lot to meet his end is among many who met their fate much before they had envisaged, because of the army’s operation Hunt Down, which seeks to weed out terror elements in the valley to bring it back to its past glory.

This combined with the swiftness of the NIA are stories which should be doing the rounds in the country rather than a particular fractured alliance breaking up in Bihar. The NIA on 30th carried out raids on Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s aide Devinder Singh Behal’s ancestral home and recovered incriminating files and documents in addition to 4 cell phones and a tablet.

Behal who is the chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Social Peace Forum (JKSPF), a constituent of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat headed by Geelani and has also been found attending funerals of terrorists killed by the Security Forces.

This paradigm shift in government policies against separatists and terrorists comes as fresh hope for Indian citizens who under the aegis of Omar, Mehbooba and Rajnath Singh had lost all hope in the deteriorating condition of Kashmir. This change in approach is something unusual for even Pakistani Army and ISI who are otherwise used to the complacent passive response of the Indian government towards the terrorists and terror activities funded by them in the Valley.

The raid on Behal’s house comes after the NIA conducted raids in over 14 separate locations, early in June when it stepped up the ante on Hurriyat leaders and their sympathisers.

The intent of NIA was clear when they arrested 7 influential people of the separatist clan including people like Mr. Mirwaiz Farooq and Syed Ali Shah Geelani ’s son-in-law, Altaf Shah. The District Court where they were produced on the 25th June, sent them into a 10 day NIA custody marking the beginning of what could possibly turn out to be the end of the Hurriyat, separatist and anti-India faction which has been meddling into India’s Kashmir affairs for way too long.

What is surprising and astonishing, is the utter disregard of the NIA towards the state government headed by madam Mehbooba Mufti. Bearing in mind her love for “insaniyat” and the constant urge to engage in talks with seperatists, it seems as if the central government has given the NIA a no-strings attached approval to go after anti-India forces.

As stated earlier, while the state government headed by Mehbooba Mufti might have a lot of sympathy for the Hurriyat and the separatist faction, their honeymoon has most certainly come to an end. The beginning of the end for anti-India factions has already begun and the forces are in no mood to let go of this golden patch until they eliminate each and every one of those separatist elements, they are not going to breathe a sigh of relief.

December 2017 is the Deadline for Terror Free Kashmir. I thought it is an exaggeration, but now I am sure it is not!
