Love, Ambition, Jealousy, Cheating, Break-up, Patch-up – Why JDU BJP Story is a perfect Bollywood Romantic flick?

Bhartiya Janata Party and Janata Dal United were in a relationship. They were together for more than a decade. They had a healthy relationship but they were not very rich and did not have much power, but they were very happy. At the cost of sounding clichéd they “completed” each other. They were limited to Bihar and other places but their aim was to settle in New Delhi. Mind you, both the partners were ambitious. BJP being the breadwinner elsewhere left the issues of Bihar to JDU who proved to be a great companion.

There were times when differences crept in JDU and BJP which were either mended or neglected from time to time for the larger interest of saving the relationship.

And that too a successful one. Ask anyone who has had a long lasting relationship and they will tell you that this relationship was a model relationship in the current environment of deceit, treachery and betrayal. Both were working towards settling in New Delhi as that was their ultimate aim. A goal which they always thought they will fulfill with each other, hopefully in 2014. BJP had the upper hand in this relationship because BJP was out and about fighting against Congress and the rest of the world. But BJP had a reputation which Janata Dal United was always weary of. The Saffron party did not care of these labels and accusations and worked with full power and sincerity at its command. JDU was, since the beginning, very particular of the image it carried. Something similar to that of Ceaser’s wife. Always aspiring to be above suspicion. And that is when the outside forces saw a way to break this relationship.

In 2012 Congress seeded this rift. Congress started filling Janata Dal United’s ears. Congress said that come 2014, BJP will become larger than life and will forget and dump it to just Bihar. That it will be utterly unfair because when nobody was supporting the Saffron Party as it was JDU who offered unconditional support. And now when it is BJP’s turn to return the favour, it will be relegated to Bihar whereas Bhartiya Janata Party will enjoy the Lutyens.

JDU was made to feel insecure. it was forced to introspect. But such was the dependency on each other in this relationship that it could not figure what would a life look without BJP.

Congress assured that it will be helping and saving Janata Dal United after it dumps Bhartiya Janata Party. Such attempts were made on earlier occasions but they were laughed off. But Congress dared and this time it succeeded. Come 2012 (Presidential elections), JDU showed the first signs that all was not well in Bihar. The cracks were now visible. BJP was taken aback by this. Here the BJP was bracing to go lock stock and barrels against the rest of the world with Janata Dal United on its side but JDU started washing dirty linen in public. The Junior Alliance Partner left no stone unturned in embarrassing the Senior, Bhartiya Janata Party.

BJP was left shattered. It was hurt. It decided to confront this situation once and for all, because it was impossible for it to fight a war where it could be stabbed on the back.

BJP sat JDU down and tried to reconcile the matter. Janata Dal United was heavily influenced with an illusion that BJP would dump it to become a concubine in Bihar. Bhartiya Janata Party did all it could to convince and promise that it will definitely go to New Delhi as they once together dreamt of. JDU did not believe this. it did not budge. When BJP asked it for ways to restore its faith in BJP and its promise to remain loyal and take it to New Delhi in 2014, JDU put forward an unreasonable demand. Exactly the same demand that Congress seeded in its mind.Iit demanded to lead the attack for 2014 New Delhi.

Bhartiya Janata Party knew that it was not possible and had that been the case none of them would make it out of Bihar alive. Let alone going to New Delhi. JDU’s new belief stood vindicated that BJP was never serious about taking it to New Delhi. It did not want any association with BJP because JDU’s image and intentions were now being questioned because of its relationship with BJP.

Bhartiya Janata Party was startled to hear this. It realized that the differences are beyond repair. It gathered all the courage and self-respect, looked Janata Dal United in the eye, did not utter a word, but left. Both were equally hurt. JDU still had friends, Bhartiya Janata Party was left stranded with a bleeding heart.

Come 2014. Bhartiya Janata Party banks itself to New Delhi. BJP did this on its own. BJP came to New Delhi without any compromises, any arrangements. JDU and all its so called friends and well-wishers were nowhere to be seen. JDU could not even find a train to leave Bihar for any place. BJP became arrogant and ruthless. Bhartiya Janata Party’s aim was now to avenge its hurt. BJP came in as the most eligible bachelor. Now BJP was also a ruthless, arrogant and a habitual philanderer. BJP flirted in places like Arunachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand and wherever else it saw an opening (A figurative one!). Everybody wanted to be in relationship with BJP. Bhartiya Janata Party was behaving like this in order to hide its hurt just to show to the world that no one could break its heart and spirit.

Janata Dal United on the other hand was shattered and absolutely disenchanted with itself in Bihar. JDU was seeing this unfathomable success of the BJP and hurting that JDU could have still been with BJP. But now BJP is successful, powerful and does not care or atleast pretends to. JDU wanted to look within and think hard of what a blunder it had committed by breaking a long serious relationship. But JDU wanted to save face and hence could not openly go out in support to Bhartiya Janata Party. It would have made JDU look desperate. As one must remember, for JDU nothing is above its image. So JDU also tried to cover its pain and helplessness by starting to hang out with its friends in Bihar itself.

In 2015, Bhartiya Janata Party wanted to come to Bihar on its own and evict Janata Dal United from there. Given its new avatar, noboy expected any less from them. Within a matter of few weeks, an angry JDU immediately got hitched to a friend from the past named RJD who did not have a great reputation. Again Congress brokered this shameless relationship. It was more like a rebound. BJP was mean and brutal. It was not about fighting for love. It was more about ego. Both Bhartiya Janata Party and JDU despite being madly in love with each other, fought against each other. Because this is what lovers do. They stop thinking. Their only aim becomes to put the other person in its place. Nothing meaningful comes out it, but it is quite a natural turn of events for those jaded out of love. BJP lost the battle. JDU won the battle, but somewhere it knew that it had lost the war. BJP carried on to other pursuits elsewhere and pretty much succeeded in courting whoever it wished to. But things were never the same for JDU.

A few months later, Bhartiya Janata Party heard from friends and neighbours that RJD went back to its old ways. The old incorrigible habits of RJD was not going down well with the JDU. When RJD was publicly trying to insult BJP, BJP did not say much against RJD because BJP now was too big and arrogant to respond. Bhartiya Janata Party passed subtle comments and quipped where everybody laughed. Because now if you do not laugh at the jokes of BJP, you could end up crying. RJD was time and again insulted. RJD was being warned by cops for its rash behavior after addiction (corruption is RJD’s addiction). RJD, like a drunk husband would now torture and physically harm the reputation of JDU. It could not tolerate the ordeal. Because as we all know by now that for JDU it is all about the reputation. JDU remembered of those good old days with BJP. Even when BJP had nothing never ill-treated it. JDU realized that a blunder has been committed getting engaged with RJD. JDU was feeling terribly stuck with RJD. When the whole world seemed to have conspired to attack BJP, JDU openly applauded NoteBan and Surgical strikes. In 2017 it became clear that whosover from BJP’s past or present love affairs stood with it, it never shied away from supporting BJP when it needed support. Bhartiya Janata Party was being arrogant all this while and pretended not to pay any heed to JDU’s gestures of kindness. But somewhere BJP felt that oneness which it shared with JDU. RJD and Congress confronted JDU on this. JDU asked RJD to mend its way before it was too late. RJD just buggered JDU off and went on with its misbehavior and callousness towards JDU and everybody else.

Water had now crossed the brim for Janata Dal United. It could not suffer any more humiliation and harassment in the hands of RJD. Bhartiya Janata Party hears about JDU’s condition and decides to pay a visit.

A rush of old memories, love, moments fill the air. Bhartiya Janata Party asks JDU, “Kya haal hai tumhara JD?”. JDU with watery eyes and a heavy voice says

“Ishq di mere mitra hun pehchaan ki
Jadon mit gayi zidd apnaan di”

There is no recognition of my love when
I have given up the desire of our reunion.

Bhartiya Janata Party’s heart melted. BJP held JDU from shoulders and then thrusts it with a hug. BJP promises it to help get out of the mess. A few weeks later, JDU and BJP are back together.
