Mamata must say sorry for what her party workers have done to an Army Jawan

On the morning of 11th May 2011 when the results were to be announced, Kolkata was anticipating a change in the leadership for they had unanimously voted for one. That change was TMC, in the 34 years at the helm the left had Bengal for ruins, the glorious past days of Bengal & Calcutta were nothing but mere stories that could be read in the history books, the ground reality had become dismal, industrial development had become stagnant, corruption was spreading like wild fire & hooliganism was on the ascendancy for quite some time.

A cumulation of all these factors & more had turned even the most loyal of the leftist supporters against them, they voted for a change in the command, they voted for TMC but most importantly they voted for Mamta Banerjee.

The Mamta effect has totally gripped Bengal & the changes are for everyone to see. The Red Flags have given way to the Saffron, White & Green of TMC, the siphoned money have new scams to hide under & the Comrades have been replaced by the TMC marauders. The good old days are coming back to Bengal & boy isn’t it a sight to behold!

A Rashtriya Rifle Jawan Praveen Kumar Rajak had come home after serving his nation to spend some quality time with his family and friends, only to encounter the TMC workers in the Hooghly District of West Bengal.

After being asked for a donation of 1 lakh rupees to which he refused, he was beaten up brutally left, right & centre, without sparing a thought for who he was & what his contribution to this country was.

That was just the homecoming he would have hoped for & thanks to Mamta Didi & her TMC loyalists, his dreams must have been fulfilled.

To add to insult, Praveen’s complaints to the police were to no avail, no arrests were made, and no action was taken. Political Muscle was flexed and the problem was dealt with, leaving the jawan battered, bruised & hurt.

This is not the first time that the TMC workers have come under the spotlight for the wrong reasons, earlier this year a BJP office was decimated by the TMC loyalists, to add to insult, two days later a BJP MP Babul Supriyo’s apartment was intruded by the TMC hooligans, the boundaries are being pushed every day in Bengal. Crimes being committed against direct political rivals seem like grudge crimes more than anything else, total & unopposed power is what Mamta craves for, which is detrimental for a country woven into the democratic fabric.

The recent atrocious crime committed against jawan Praveen Kumar deeply saddens the Indian in me; a country which preached the motto of “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” is treating its sons in a way that is despicable & utterly shameful.

These jawans are the reason that these so called politicians have a sound sleep during the night, for all I know every Army man should be put on a pedestal & idolised, and the people who committed such a grave sin should be considered the enemies of the country, but maybe these rules don’t apply to Bengal or do they “Didi”?

Back in the yesteryears when Mamta Banerjee was in the opposition she couldn’t stop talking about how corrupt Bengal was under the CPI(M), how the political mafias of the left were tormenting the residents & how stagnant Kolkata’s growth had become in recent years , she was the face of the uprising against the communist cadre that had been in power for 34 years, she stood for change & people hoped that she would deliver, fast forward 6 years to the future and the results are for everyone to see.

The only thing seems to have changed in the Writers Building are the personnel,  for the oppression still continue, the fabric of the society have been torn to shreds, money still seems to find its way to the coffins of the politicians, where is the change that was promised?

One thing that Mamta Banerjee can be credited to is the rise in the GDP growth numbers & the steps that she has taken to bring investment to West Bengal, this is what won her the 2016 elections, she even flaunted a Bengali equivalent of ache din in her promotional campaign, but the darker side of the story overshadows her work.

Be it the infamous Saradha Chit Fund scam or the Rose Valley fiasco or be it the Flyover collapse in Kolkata that left 27 dead or the communal violence that has shocked the country, her time in the office has been mired with such allegations for what seems like an eternity now.

On her own part Ms. Mamta Banerjee hasn’t done much to prove her doubters wrong, recently when TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay was arrested by the CBI because of his links to the Rose Valley chit fund scam, Mamta Di was outraged linking the arrest to the fact that she had raised her voice against demonetization. She has time and again supported some tainted faces raising question marks over her own credibility.

After the flyover collapse, a special committee was setup by the chief minister to investigate into the matter, this committee comprised of former IIT-KGP faculty members, after analysing all the facts Pof. Anandapran Gupta, former head of the department of civil engineering at IIT-KGP said “We have found defects in multiple aspects of the flyover construction. Be it the design, the construction, the raw material and the supervision, all were at fault,” what this goes on to show is that corruption has made its way deep into system & Didi has found no cure for it, on the contrary her actions hint at the exact opposite.

Mamta Banerjee has never shied away from expressing her views, in 2014 she had referred to Modi as “The butcher of Gujrat”, earlier this year she was at the forefront of the demonstrations against Demonetisation, calling it heartless & baseless, giving no importance to the fact that there was a 268% increase in income tax collections post demonetisation, but the main point here is that Ms. Mamta Banerjee did not comment upon the shameful deeds committed by her pupils in Howrah, post demonetisation she had gone on record to say that Narendra Modi had lost his credibility & therefore should not hold office anymore, well if her logic holds true then I don’t know why the official website of the West Bengal government still says that she holds the post of chief minister, that must be a mistake , right?

The resignation letter must be stuck somewhere in the heavy Kolkata traffic.
