The world is now more open to India than it probably was two to three decades ago. It all started with the bold step of liberalization, initiated by noted economist and politician Subramanian Swamy, and implemented with flying colors by the government led by PV Narasimha Rao.
Ever since then, a huge wave of artists, popular worldwide, have graced our country with their presence. From the world famous band Beatles, to the mesmerizing tour of the ‘King of Pop’, Michael Jackson, to the charming show of British rock band Coldplay just last year, India has witnessed a fluent flow of music from all corners of the world.
Milking on this very popularity came the decision of noted pop singer and famous young artist, Justin Bieber, who announced that he would be arriving at India for a Belieber’s Purpose World Tour Concert, on 10th of May, at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai; sending ripples of excitement among his fans here.
Following was his announcement for his fans in India:-
As you may have imagined, the fans of Justin Bieber in India went crazy as hell. Many saw people, from common students to high profile celebs went berserk, crooning to some of his hits like ‘Sorry’ ‘Baby’, ‘Let Me Love You’ ‘Cold Water’ etc. A video link below will prove to you the desperation such fans have for Bieber:-

But what is he hailed for? Is Justin melodious? No. Is Justin equal to MJ and Bryan Adams? Don’t even try. Justin is all gas and no substance. If only his fans were wise enough to ponder over this.
More than 60000 people attended his concert, which also included a host of celebrities, from Music Director Armaan, to stars like Alia Bhatt, Bipasha Basu, Sonali Bendre, Arjun Rampal, Malaika Arora Khan, her estranged husband and actor Arbaaz Khan as the list goes ad infinitum.
However, no sooner had Justin Bieber taken the stage, when the audience learnt this lesson rather badly.
Instead of being served the delight of Justin Bieber crooning to his classics and mesmerizing the crowd, most of the crowd witnessed Justin Bieber performing rather halfheartedly, allegedly lip synchronizing to his previous “classics”.
Interestingly, people were ready to pay prices as high as Rs. 76000 for a ticket to this concert. For what? Just hearing the singer lip syncing to his previous songs? Don’t we have inbuilt karaoke in our homes for that?
Fun fact, Bieber canceled his parties here and left India as unceremoniously as he came.
Interestingly, the guys vouching for the concert were the same people who would give an infinite lecture on why pouring water or milk on Shiva Linga is a waste of time. Okay, so that is a waste, but wasting 76000 rupees on an overrated western singer isn’t? Hypocrisy, eh?
In fact, so much could’ve been done with Rs. 76000 instead of wasting it on a singer lip syncing to his old songs, like:-
- A roundabout trip to Paris or Madrid
- A brand new Bajaj V, made of the metal from INS Vikrant could’ve been bought
- a year’s cost of education for a couple of underprivileged kids.
- A nice feast for the poor, with lots to spare
And if nothing then, One could’ve kept a 2-3 year collection of Pulse candies in that amount.
Aren’t the above choices better? but on a more serious note, the fans of Justin Beiber have been conned and robbed off their money.
