US-India Business Council gave the ‘Transformative Chief Minister Award’ to N Chandrababu Naidu for his outstanding leadership.
After PM Nardendra Modi, the next name that comes in mind when we talk about development is definitely Chandrababu Naidu. Before Andhra Pradesh was split up he was single handily responsible for making Hyderabad the second biggest IT hub in India. In 2000 he spoke about Vision 2020 a way to transform Hyderabad and ever since then IT companies have been flocking around Hyderabad.
On his previous visit to India in 1997 of all the meetings Bill Gates had, one that stood out in the philanthropic billionaire’s mind involved ChandraBabu Naidu. In what was supposed to be a 10-minute appointment, Chandrababu Naidu held Bill Gates spellbound for half an hour. Within weeks of this meeting, Microsoft gave the go-ahead to establish its India Development Center in Hyderabad, and not in Bangalore, IT’s premier city. This was only because of Naidu’s persuasive powers. Rest is history.
Hyderabad grew leaps and bounds and unlike Bangalore which has heavy traffic, polluted lakes and high cost of living, thanks to the careful planning keeping future in mind Hyderabad has none of the problems. It is also one of best cities to live in India. All thanks to CBN.
After Andhra Pradesh was split up, ChandraBabu Naidu became the CM of Andhra Pradesh and KCR became the CM of Telangana.
Hyderabad by then was money spinning auto tuned machine while Andhra didn’t really have any financial stronghold. CBN had to again restart what he did 30 years ago but this time with a fledgling state. Unlike last time where he focused only on one city this time CBN focused on making two new hubs ,Amravati the capital of Andhra Pradesh as an IT hub and Visakhapatnam the city of destiny as a tourist hub and a manufacturing hub.
Accel IT, Horizon IT, AdvanSoft (Chicago), MSR Cosmos, Adept Solutions, Intellisoft and TimesquareIT are set to begin their operations at Autonagar in Vijayawada .The Medha IT Towers near Vijayawada airport, which remained a non-starter for at least five years now, is also set to spring to life as Spanish IT major Grupo Antolin is about to start its operations. This company specializes in automotive and interior design software technologies. Another foreign company Neslova Systems and India’s HCL are also ready to set shop in Medha IT Towers, providing employment to another 1000 persons. All this is just in one year after the start of construction of the new capital. Private sector companies who have expressed their desire to invest in Amravati are companies like Suzlon Energy, Walmart, Pepsi, Colgate- Palmolive and Amity University.
Visakhapatnam is currently the third cleanest city in India. It is also one of the biggest ports in India, Visakhapatnam is known for extensive import and export trade. The GDP of the city is US$ 26 billion and it is home to many state-owned heavy metal industries and steel plants. It is 10th richest city in India.
The U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) was formed in 1975 as a business growing organization to encourage the private sectors of both India and United States and enhance the flow of investment. The organization serves as a direct link between business and Government leaders, resulting in increased trade and strengthening ties between the two nations.

The Andhra Pradesh chief minister was chosen for his efforts to boost bilateral ties between the countries at the state level. The award will be presented to Naidu during the USIBC West Coast Summit in Silicon Valley on May 8. The summit will bring together top minds in the industry and the government of India to discuss these possibilities and the future of the US-India technology partnership
Naidu is set to leave for the US on an eight-day trip on May 4. Apart from signing memoranda of understanding with various global firms, he is also scheduled to The companies which will attend the summit include Amazon, Paypal, Deloitte, Facebook, Nuveen, Mastercard, Dell, TransAsia, Varian Medical, Visa among others, interact with 300 CEOs during the tour, including Apple CEO Tim Cook. He will also sign three sister-state agreements for Andhra Pradesh with California, Iowa and Illinois.
