Friends, remember Kairana? The district which had to face the ignominy of being another Kashmir owing to the mass exodus of the native Hindu community, due to gross anarchy, and pillage and riots, murder, loot, kidnapping etc. by fundamentalists. For a while, it looked as if it would be another Dhulagarh, with no support from either state or media, and the victims forever being oppressed, either by terror or by anonymity.
It seems, that with the ascent of Yogi Adityanath as the CM, the victims would finally sleep in peace, at justice being served in the coldest way possible, when the main accused, notorious anarchist and sharp shooter Furqan, along with his gang, was ambushed by an ATS squad of UP Police, and following a heated exchange with gunshots, Furqan was not only injured, but arrested by UP Police for his actions which lead to the mass exodus in Kairana.
What ensued to the encounter in Kairana was the following:-
Following the notorious mass exodus of Hindus on the lines of the Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir Valley, emboldened by the rampant benevolence of the Akhilesh Yadav government, Furqan and his gang threatened another trader into extortion. Fortunately, this time, he was caught red handed by the Kairana Police and a cordon of UP ATS, led by Ajay Sharma.
Following an intense shootout, Furqan was seriously injured, with five bullets lodged into his body, while some of his accomplices were arrested before they could escape. The police have refused to comment how many criminals have died as of now.
For those who are unaware of the ground reality, Furqan is not only a trusted sharpshooter of notorious Kairana goon Mukim Kala, and a bounty prize of Rs. 50000 was imposed on him.
He is touted to be the single biggest reason behind the mass exodus of Hindus from the Kairana district, and is also accused of over a dozen cases of murder, along with additional cases of extortion, kidnapping, robbery, rape etc. With his fall, the denizens of Kairana must be heaving a sigh of relief.
What should one deduce from this? It is the fact that the once swashbuckling, trigger happy, and crime free oriented UP Police is once again back in action; alive and kicking under the blessings of the bold chief minister, Yogi Adityanath.
The way with which the main culprits of Kairana exodus have been caught is nothing less than phenomenal, this being only the third or fourth week of Yogi Adityanath’s rule.
While many would laugh on Yogi Adityanath’s clout behind the resurgence of UP Police as a competitive police force, it is not a myth anymore. One should’ve seen the signs of change coming, when Yogi conducted a surprise check in the Hazratganj police station, followed by the arrest of notorious kingpin of UP oil mafia, Manoj Goyal, within a week.
UP Police was notorious from time immemorial, for being more of an accomplice for the criminals and the powerful tyrants, rather than being the custodians of the safety of the citizens of the state. However, with the advent of the 21st century, a Special Task Force was set in action, initiated by BJP itself.
Vested with special powers, the UP STF helped in bringing down the crime rate to a bare minimum, eliminating UP of its dreaded band of criminals, which included the likes of dacoits like Nirbhay Gurjar, Dadua etc.
With the advent of successive socialist cum pseudo secular governments, the powerful STF took a backseat, giving unlimited freedom to the dreaded criminals to carry out their nefarious trades. How else can one explain the rise in crime and corruption from 2007 onwards in UP.
Be it Purshottam Naresh Dwivedi, or Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, every government protected and groomed their own class of criminal class politicians, while any resistance, even if legal, met with horrifying consequences. I hope my brothers and sisters from UP haven’t forgotten the fate of DSP Zia Ul Haq, SP Mukul Dwivedi among others etc.
With the ascent of Yogi Adityanath as the CM, to everyone’s surprise, even the pseudo liberals, who were desperately hoping to see the new government fail, the UP Police, whether in fear, or in confidence, has sprung rightly back into action. With lightning quick crackdowns on dreaded mafias, whether commodity based or crime based, I won’t be surprised if criminals think twice before committing a crime in Uttar Pradesh.
This no nonsense approach to dealing with crime and corruption in Uttar Pradesh is what is actually needed from UP Police, and we have to thank both UP Police and Yogi Adityanath for that.
