Dear Mr. Digvijay Singh, Though it is not surprising to hear your statements on how ISIS has become attractive to Muslims due to the injustice meted out to them, I fail to see what you wanted to convey in the first place. You felt this was a wake-up call for the government to stop alienation of Muslims and provide them with equal rights and opportunity. I too agree with you on the point of Muslims should be having equal rights and opportunity. In fact Muslims should be really thanking you for acknowledging the truth, at last.
If Saifullah, the dead man accused of planting a bomb presents one side of the Muslims, the other face is represented by his father Sartaj. Sartaj felt his son was a ‘desh drohi’ and refused to accept even the body of the slain terrorist. I respect the candid nature of Sartaj in calling one traitor a traitor, while your hypocrisy in falsely sympathising with Muslims needs to be condemned.
Let me present a historic observation by Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, whom you would never dare to question, even in your wildest secular dreams.
An excerpt from his book “India Wins Freedom”:

After partition, the most ridiculous position was that of the Muslim League leaders who remained in India. Jinnah left for Karachi with a message to his followers that now the country was divided and they should be loyal citizens of India. This parting message created in them a strange sense of weakness and disillusion. Many of these leaders came to see me after 14 August. Their plight was pathetic. Every one of them said with deep regret and anger that Jinnah had deceived them and left them in the lurch.
I could not at first understand what they meant by saying that Jinnah had deceived them. He had openly demanded partition of the country on the basis of Muslim majority provinces. Partition was now a reality and both in the West and the East, Muslim majority areas formed parts of Pakistan. Why then should these spokesmen of the Muslim League say that they were deceived?

If the Muslim majority provinces formed a separate State, it was clear that the provinces in which the Muslims were in a minority would form part of India. Muslims of UP and Bihar were a minority and would remain so even after partition. It is strange but the fact is that these Muslim Leaguers had been foolishly persuaded that once Pakistan was formed, Muslims, whether they came from a majority or a minority province would be regarded as a separate nation and would enjoy the right of determining their own future. Now when the Muslim majority provinces went out of India and even Bengal and Punjab were divided and Mr Jinnah left for Karachi, these fools realised that they had gained nothing but in fact lost everything by the partition of India. Jinnah’s parting message came as the last straw on the camel’s back. It was now clear to them that the only result of partition was that their position as a minority was much weaker than before. In addition, they had thought their foolish action created anger and resentment in the minds of the Hindus.
The members of the Muslim League kept on repeating that they were now at the mercy of the Hindu majority”

So, my dear sir, the problem of Muslims alienated in India was the handwork of Jinnah. And, Congress leaders of that time, before whose photographs you prostrate had done nothing to prevent such situation from emerging. All the tall and great leaders had done nothing, I repeat nothing to prevent Iqbal, who was a nationalist and Jinnah, a non-practising Muslim from becoming fundamentalists and demand a separate state. Though the idea of a separate country had originated in the minds of only the rich and aristocratic Muslims, the reality of partition had affected the average and poor Muslims in a negative way. And, I am yet to hear from any Congressman elaborating actions by Congress to stop such alienation of Muslims in pre-independent India.
The Congress leaders of that time had even alienated nationalists like Bose and Savarkar so that their political careers can flourish under British and after independence as well. If Bose became the head of Indian Government in exile, Savarkar transformed to become a Hindu nationalist. Too much of alienation for a party that preaches inclusivism, but it was designed to be so.
Your party, Mr. Digvijay Singh, did nothing even after independence. In the name of secularism, all the Congress had practised was transforming the Muslims into a vote bank and kept them in a perennial state of dependence, so that they can be exploited forever.
It is not wrong to state that Congress looked after the Muslims the way a goat was reared only to the sacrificed. After Hyderabad was integrated, the Congress took no steps to integrate the erstwhile razakars, who fought against the Indian State and not even their supporters were reformed. The menace of communal riots have grown over a period of time, though all you remember is the 2002 because it serves your political purposes.
Forget Muslims, in the long rule of Congress that spanned more than half a century, the country failed to integrate the forest dwellers, who were exploited by the civilised (?) village businessmen and contractors. In a way, depriving a large section of Indian populace, you provided an opportunity for Naxalism to take roots and spread its tentacles throughout central India, from Jharkhand to Andhra. I wonder whether your next statement would be the rule of Congress that alienated the forest dwellers made Naxalism attractive to them!
If Indira’s politically alienating policies have generated secessionists in Punjab and North-East, Rajiv extended the reach of alienation to Tamilnadu. I wonder how you would describe the alienation that Congress has caused and made secessionism attractive to so many communities. And, we’ve not touched the ever burning Kashmir issue. Why the hell you alienated so many people in India?
It was only because of your minority appeasement, BJP, a party with only two members in parliament in 1984 has grown to have 282 in 2014. Now, as you are out of power, you talk of how BJP is alienating Muslims, as if they were not alienated before Modi or even Vajpayee came into the political picture.
Even if one agrees that there is an alienation of any community, whether it is the forest dwellers or Sikhs or Tamilians or Muslims or Nagas, is Congress going to support them to act against the sovereignty of India? Well, I doubt even your Madam accepts your ludicrous reasoning and opinion. As you already considered BJP is alienating Muslims and preventing Muslims from enjoying equal rights and opportunities, how many long term actions were taken by any of the Congress governments that have ruled since independence?
All you did was to let the Wakf leaders enjoy the funds and let the children to study in Madrasas. Where was your social conscious when you allowed Madrasas mushroom and grow? It was only the children of poor Muslims that go to these Madrasas, as the rich kids go to private convents and colleges, like in all other communities. You let the psyche to degenerate so much that in some areas, Muslims are against vaccinating their kids. Even while other communities are progressing to some extent, by allowing polygamy and giving birth to too many kids had been rampant in the community. Your friend Azam Khan explained that having no jobs made them to produce more children so that unemployment increases further. Seems he too shares your vision of India. And, for all problems, you have only one solution and that is RESERVATIONS.
The rule of Congress had reduced the psyche of common Indians that everyone would love to be branded a minority (including Brahmins) so that they can enjoy reservation.
It is time for people like you to stop pretending that you are for the benefit of the Muslim community. People belonging to all types of classifications, be it based on religion or region or caste or language or gender have faced some sort of problems. That does not mean they all turn to taking weapons in their hands and become anti-establishment forces.
I hope you, if not you someone else in your party would start realising the hypocrisy you have maintained so far and will have guts to put a full stop to this drama. The more you people give statements like these, there would be a day you will really feel sorry for not only Muslims, but for all Indians.
PS: On a lighter note, there are some new provisions to keep you busy indoors. Why don’t you live life the way you can, as long as it lasts and stop politicising every issue with your narrow vision.
