The Bhartiya Janta Party was elected on the promise that it will rescue India from the economic crisis created by the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance and reverse the unjust laws against Hindus in this country. While the 1st promise seems to have been somewhat fulfilled, Prime Minister Modi and his government are not very keen on fulfilling the second promise.

The Prime Minister should not forget that it was not just the promise of development which resulted in the landslide victory of the Bhartiya Janta Party, the message that Hindus will finally have a voice in the parliament and the government, will no longer be treated as second-class citizens in their own country and the countless laws against the Hindu community in India will finally be repelled. Perhaps the BJP has come to believe its own lie that it was the slogan of development alone that won them 2014.

In this series, we will examine how the BJP has repeatedly failed to take up Hindu causes and get Justice for Hindus in India.

The Right to Education ( RTE ) Act or to put it simply Jizya levied on inferior pagans (Hindus) who have the audacity to open and manage their own educational institutions

The Right to Education act may sound and even look like wonderful act which was introduced by the “SECULAR” United Progressive Alliance in 2009 to provide a proper education to poor students who otherwise couldn’t possibly afford to educate themselves. Sound great right? I mean what kind of nincompoop wouldn’t want poor people to suffer and not get an education so that they can make their lives better. Except, the Act doesn’t aim to provide affordable, world-class education to all, it aims to destroy “Hindu Run” Educational institutions all over the country and make India more “Secular”. Make no mistake the Right to Education act was designed to do cripple Hindu run Educational Institutions so that their Christian and Islamic counterparts can occupy the space and advance their agendas.

Here is what the act does, It forces up the cost structure for Hindu-run educational institutions, it destroys the autonomy of these institutions and makes Hindu run Educational institutions uncompetitive. The Right to Education (RTE) Act mandates that non-minority, Hindu, schools allot 25 percent of their total seats to children belonging to Economically weaker sections and other disadvantaged groups for free. Both government aided and privately run schools do not come under the ambit of the RTE act but all private non-minority ones do. Any school that fails to comply with the long list of these rules then can be simply be closed down or be taken over officially by the state government.

The UPA managed to pass this “sectarian” law with the crucial support of the BJP. It is really interesting that why a party that claims to be a defender of Hindu Rights was actively supporting a law which essentially levies a targeted tax on Hindu run Educational institution. Many expected that the situation will change once Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, but unfortunately, even after 3 years, the BJP led government has done nothing to amend this sectarian act. It seems that the Prime Minister is not motivated enough to protect the interests of Hindus and their educational institutions or he simply doesn’t care about Hindus and has taken them for granted. The HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar so far hasn’t commented on the sectarian provisions of the disastrous act and how he plans to amend it.

On the state level, rather than finding out ways to repel the act the NDA government in Maharashtra is implementing the sectarian RTE act with new found enthusiasm. For example, according to Data compiled by the National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA), the state government sent official closure notices to at least 7000 schools between January 2015 and October 2016. Due to the Anti-Hindu nature of RTE act, it is safe to assume that all of these 7000 schools were Hindu run. Data from NISA also tells us that there have been 1539 threats against schools through non-official public announcements by government officials. The Centre for Civil Society tells us that a mere media report about a threat of closure made by a government official or a government minister is more than enough to scare parents into withdrawing their wards from schools and admit them in other schools.

The Right to Education act is an Anti-Hindu act that needs a complete overhaul if India wants to provide affordable, quality education to all. The Narendra Modi Government must not think that Hindus will vote for the BJP simply because it calls itself a party which looks after the interest of Hindus. Talk must be followed by action.
