So, it looks like the season of Twitter hack. And Legion certainly is the flavour of the month. They shot to limelight when they claimed to hack into Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s account.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s official twitter account was hacked on Wednesday, and expletives and abuses were posted on the handle. The abusive tweets were later deleted.

And the hacker made full use of the precious time. The hacker went on to tweet outrageous tweets about Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party.

What was discarded as one time luck was replicated the very next day when they hacked Congress’s official twitter account. They went on to hack a number of prominent Congress handles.

The official twitter handler of controversial liquor baron Vijay Mallya was then hacked on Friday morning. A series of abusive and embarrassing tweets were sent out to over 5.51 million followers by the same group or individual named ‘legion’.

Today they have hacked into Barkha Dutt ’s twitter account and made a total mess of it. Like the last time, they leaked sensitive information this time as well. Barkha Dutt ’s webmail credentials were leaked and the legion also released a partial e-mail dump of her mailbox. The hackers claim to have rooted entire organization which possibly means NDTV in this case. Considering their hacking prowess, it will be unwise to take it as bluff. In one of the tweets the legion claims to have a huge botnet.

Some of the tweets from Barkha Dutt ’s hacked Twitter account were:

They are specifically targeting the voices on the left side of the political spectrum. Will they stop at it? Considering the frequency, it looks highly unlikely that they will stop. So who will be targeted next? Rajdeep Sardesai? Arvind Kejriwal? Mamata Banerjee? Well…it remains to be seen. But these hackers have certainly upped the ante in the cyber battles.
