Veer Shaheed Nitin Kumar-How the braveheart singlehandedly saved the BSF Camp last night

The haunting memories of the Uri attack were still fresh in our minds when last night 4 -5 armed terrorists attacked the Army Camp at Baramulla which is just 30 kilometers from Uri.

Our security forces were already on a high alert and were determined to stop any intrusion attempt. Fortunately they took notice of the movements of some terrorists and successfully neutralized them around 10 pm.

The absence of the sun had made it a difficult combat zone but our security forces were tougher and had a will to restrain any infiltration attempts by the cowards.

The heavily-armed terrorists attacked a Rashtriya Rifles army camp, which also houses a unit of the Border Security Force (BSF), late last night, leading to a fierce gun-battle with security forces.

2 of the BSF soldiers were grievously injured of whom one, Nitin Kumar, a 24 year young constable succumbed to his injuries.

This braveheart, Nitin Kumar gave the supreme sacrifice for our motherland. While most of us were sleeping peacefully and many getting ready to sleep the night off, Nitin Kumar was fighting to make sure our peace is not disturbed.

Nitin Kumar was at the entrance when the BSF camp was attacked. He fought valiantly leading from the front. Nitin shot two terrorists dead killing their dreams of causing heavy casualty.

Unfortunately, Nitin went to check for any other terrorists loitering, unaware of the fact that there was a third terrorist who was lurking in a corner and waiting for him to approach. Nitin was shot 22 times, lying injured there he still had the gun in his hands to fire at the terrorist.

Other BSF personnel reached the spot and carried him to the hospital, but he couldn’t survive.

Nitin Kumar, from Etawah, Uttar Pradesh was only 24 years old but he had the strong determination of protecting his motherland. He had the patriotism and valour which is unparalleled and beyond words. It was largely because of his valiant efforts and heroism that the BSF camp remained unpenetrated and unharmed. The terrorists couldn’t cause much damages and fatalities.

The BSF have categorically mentioned that it was because of the sacrifice of Nitin Kumar that this attempt was curbed.

Tears welled my eyes as I watched Nitin’s salutation ceremony. A 24 year old, died in the line of duty but not without taking down two enemies of the nation. It was heartbreaking that such a brave man is gone forever.

Nitin had joined the BSF in 2012. He always wanted to serve on the border, whatever the circumstances be. It’s our earnest appeal to the Indian Government that they make sure his martyrdom doesn’t go waste and each drop of his blood is avenged.

In wreath laying ceremony of Nitin Kumar, his colleagues shouted, “Nitin Kumar Amar Rahe” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai.

I am also ashamed to observe the spineless student leaders who plot “Bharat ki Barbaadi” while living off subsidies as our soldiers offer their lives fighting at the borders. The nutcrack liberals and artistes and peace doves advocate for Pakistani artistes and peace and dialogues while brave men like Nitin Kumar never become the icon that they are.

Karan Johars, Salman Khans, Mahesh Bhatts who are so worried about the Pak artistes, have no words of sympathy for the wives, daughters, sons and parents of our martyrs who are crying in agony.

Veer Shaheed Nitin Kumar, you may not be with us anymore. But, your legend will live forever.
