This village in Didi’s Bengal won’t celebrate Durga Puja for the 4th consecutive year

Didi West Bengal Durga Puja

In recent times, Mamata Didi has been often accused of supporting and nurturing Islamic fundamentalists in her own backyard. An ordinary person might assume these are the schizophrenic rants of Hindutvavadis but as Derek O’Brien, member of Didi’s party, keeps lecturing us on the divinity of Secularism in Didi’s West Bengal, Bengali Hindus are being denied the right to celebrate Durga Puja in their own land.

In Birbhum district of Didi’s Bengal, 300 odd families in a village are being denied permission by authorities to celebrate Durga Puja because certain members of the peaceful community raised their objections.

Sickeningly, the Hindus are being denied permission to celebrate Durga Puja for the fourth consecutive year. In Didi’s Bengal, rationalists get a free ride to mock Hinduism and its principles but get jailed for criticizing Islam, women’s football matches get canceled after fatwas are issued against it by Islamic organizations, riots run wild against Hindus in areas dominated by the peaceful community. While liberal intellectuals delude themselves into believing that the BJP is out to establish a Hindu Pakistan in India, certain political parties are actively creating actual mini-Pakistans in Indian territory.

In a classic case of Dhimmitude, Mamata Didi continues to enjoy widespread support from Hindus in Bengal despite her quite blatant support to Islamic fundamentalists. Being a Hindu and voting for Trinamool Congress is morally indefensible, ethically reprehensible and logically incomprehensible. Of course, one could say there’s no other legitimate choice available to Hindus with the Bengal BJP unit being practically worthless but it still doesn’t excuse Hindus of the moral transgression of voting for a party that so arrogantly undermines the ethos of our Hindu civilization.

Time and again, I have stated that Hindus must realize that the Secular State of India is our enemy and not our ally. The entire political mechanism is designed to undermine our goals and objectives and actively promote fundamentalism among the peaceful community for the sake of votebank politics. Hindu interests are being shamelessly compromised in Uttar Pradesh, in Bihar, in Bengal and yet we are made to believe by the secular establishment that even now, Hindu radicalization and fundamentalism is the real problem in India.

Demography is destiny. As the demography of Bengal shifts further in favor of the peaceful community and the Hindu population continues to shrink in terms of the population of the state, the policies and the decisions of the political establishment will further reflect this drastic change. In a voyeuristic exhibition of dhimmitude, Hindus are proudly voting for their own demise. And there’s no indication that it’s going to change anytime soon.

Not only the secular parties, our very own Hindu Nationalist party, the BJP, must share the blame as well. What exactly has it done to highlight the plight of Hindus in Bengal? How on earth do they allow people like Derek O’Brien to get away with calling Malda and Tuktuki Mondal a Sanghi conspiracy? Why on earth does it seem that our Hindu Nationalist Party has given up on Bengal because they realize that their political prospect here looks bleak? Is political victories the sole goal of the BJP? Does our civilizational values mean nothing to them? Are our civilizational values worth fighting for only when they can translate directly to electoral victories?

Personally, I have given up on Bengal. The Hindus are drowning themselves in Dhimmitude and gloating over their moral superiority over those who seek to defend the ethos of our Hindu civilization. If current trends continue unchecked, large swathes of Bengal will practically be dealing with Islamic theocracy in another 40 or 50 years. What’s happening in a small village in Birbhum will be a reality across large parts of the state. Why, only last year Hindus were made to postpone Durga visarjan as the dates clashed with Muharram. It is with great sadness that I force myself to accept the very real possibility that the land of Swami Vivekananda and Paramahamsa Ramakrishna might be forever lost to us and it is in the hope that Hindus will wake up from their slumber that I urge Hindus to protest and resist this blatant assault on our culture and civilization in Didi’s Bengal.
