The year is 2016. Anything and everything liberals do not like or endorse is hate speech, racist, sexist or misogynist. The latest object of the liberals’ hate speech allegations is retired Army Officer, Major General GD Bakshi’s speech at IIT-Madras. A wise man once said some of the greatest minds are often found on the last benches of the class. And in 2016, some of the biggest idiots of the lot are found in elite institutions of the country.
Abhinav Surya, a student of MTech at the institution, in a letter to the Director of IIT-Madras ‘filled with hatred instigating violence among the students.’ It of course begs the question, how does Major General GD Bakshi speaking against Pakistan instigate violence among the students? Further, Abhinav says, “The level of hatred in his speech was going out of proportions when he said, and I quote, “In our generation, we split Pakistan into 2. Your generation should split it into 4. Only then we can live in peace!’ ”
Pakistan has been waging a proxy war against India for years now and as a retired Major General of the Army, his primary motive has always been the security of India. It only makes sense that a retired Major General from the Army has such intense hatred for a sworn enemy of the nation. That GD Bakshi hates Pakistan with such intensity should not be a cause for concern for anyone in this country, on the contrary, if a Major General of the Army does not harbor such immense hatred for a state that has been bleeding us for years, then it might indeed be a cause for worry.
The disproportionate amount of coverage the loony letter has received from the media speaks volumes of their attitude towards outspoken nationalists. Retired Major General GD Bakshi who makes no efforts to hide his strong views on Pakistan and minces no words against people who make martyrs out of terrorists, has been an eyesore for certain sections of the media who GD Bakshi has severely criticized time and again. It says a lot about the mainstream media that they have to rely on deluded snowflakes like Abhinav to take potshots at a man of General GD Bakshi’s stature.
In his letter, Abhinav Surya alleges that the letter ‘was heavily loaded with brewing enmity, inhumanity and glorification of brutality.’ It is quite evident that Abhinav belongs to the deluded breed of individuals who endorse infantile fantasies such as peace with Pakistan in its present form. ‘Enmity, inhumanity and glorification of brutality’ towards a state that seeks the annihilation of your nation and subjugation of its people is not just justified, it is indeed the only moral and honorable response.
Abhinav further goes on to say, “The speaker was constantly making direct and indirect comments that were instilling a sense utter disrespect for human life.” It is laughable that someone is suggesting that a state which bombs Balochs and fosters terrorists in its lands that kill their own people is deserving of any sort of respect.
Like I previously mentioned, the year is 2016. And in 2016, ‘Bharat tere tukde hongay’ is Freedom of Expression but preaching against a state that has been sponsoring terrorism against us since decades is Hate Speech. Liberalism has always largely been a delusion but recent developments have confirmed my belief that present-day Liberalism hardly has any principles of its own, it’s principles are whatever that is against the opinions held by the majority without any contemplation of the ethical standards and logical consistency of their own actions and beliefs.
Speaking to the News Minute, GD Bakshi firmly stated that he stands by what he said and only 10-12 Kashmiri and Leftwing liberals were the ones protesting.
He said, “They tried to break up India, so we need to break them up into 4, of course. How many times will we be stabbed in the back? We have repeatedly gotten stabbed in the back, and the leftist liberal ideology is used to promote sedition . Which nation can support its own break up? So many men have laid down their lives to fight in these wars, and we should respect them and do justice to them. I am amazed that this is called hate speech.”
Perhaps those slandering Major General GD Bakshi, mainly for his political inclinations, aren’t aware, his brother was in the Army and died fighting the enemy. In such a scenario, it’s only natural that GD Bakshi harbors such intense hatred for Pakistan. And as citizens, it’s in our best interests that the Army harbors intense hatred for those who seek to inflict terrorism in our lands. If the army isn’t willing to be completely ruthless with the enemy, what’s the purpose of having an army?
However, it is a hallmark of the tolerance of our nation, often bordering on self-destructive, that we are willing to tolerate individuals who openly make the case for our enemies and against our own interests in our own land. That even after being the victim of a proxy war for decades, we have people accusing a decorated Major General of the Army of Hate Speech for speaking against the enemy speaks volumes of the mindset we have cultivated over the years. As for Abhinav, the opening sentence of his letter completely explains his mindset, “I am writing this letter to you with a bleeding heart, worried about the recent EML lecture by Mr. GD Bakshi on 11th Aug, 2016,” special emphasis on ‘bleeding heart’. Well, it’s 2016 and we are still waiting for ‘bleeding heart’ liberals to grow some common sense. It promises to be a long wait.
