BJP tears into Congress’s allegations with facts, logic and sound arguments

Congress Modi Independence Day Speech

Immersed in Parivar Seva, Congress hardly bothered about Desh Seva, Congress arguments devoid of facts, logic and sound arguments. Congress press meet nothing but opposition for opposition’s sake.

The Press Conference addressed by the Congress Party on Wednesday 17th August 2016 on the Prime Minister’s path-breaking Red Fort address was devoid of facts, logic and a single sound argument. It was nothing but opposition for opposition’s sake, indicative of the great panic that has set in the minds of the Congress party over the pro-people and development-oriented NDA Government’s good work.

From a time in the very recent past, when no one including the Congress party paid any heed the PM’s address from 2004 to 2014, the fact that the Congress party had to devote an entire press conference on Prime Minister Modi’s address shows its connect with the people. The BJP offers its sincerest gratitude to the Congress for hearing the PM’s speech.

We are not surprised that the Congress’ absurdities. After all, a party of Parivar Sevaks duty bound to do Parivar Seva can hardly comprehend the efforts of a Pradhan Sevak immersed in Desh Seva.

In the last two years, the economic transition of the nation has created a very positive impact on each and every citizen. An isolated approach of pursuing policies with the sole aim of winning elections has been replaced with an integrated development approach aimed at transforming India. Never did the Congress think about opening the gates of the banks for the poor. Never did the idea of a pension net, social security schemes and health insurance occur in the minds of successive Congress leaders.

The inflation rate under the NDA government has not crossed 6% when the rates during the Congress crossed double digits. Even with 2 successive years of drought, country has seen overall increase in output from Agricultural Sector. In 2009-10 agricultural, forestry and fishing growth was only 0.4%. 2015-16 growth in similar drought condition for this sector was more than double and almost triple of what it was in 2009-10. This growth rate should be compared with previous drought years. For example in 2009-10, foodgrain production actually dropped. Food inflation was high in double digit. Food inflation in 2012-2013, a good monsoon year was in double digits. There is no comparison between the pro-farmer steps of the NDA and the apathy of the UPA.

Tax terror, which was the norm of the day during the UPA regime is history and the business environment of the nation is more conducive to growth. Scamsters and crony capitalists, who were under the benevolent umbrella of the UPA find themselves running for cover due to the stringent action by the NDA on black money and corruption.

PM’s statements on being the third largest economy in the world was based on GDP growth, but Congress leaders cite PPP data to contest this fact. Their spinning skills can be perhaps better utilized in the Indian cricket team. Infact, India is ranked 3rd in the list of top prospective host economies for 2016-18 in the World Investment Report 2016 released by the UNCTAD recently (June 2016).

That the Congress did no research before addressing the press meet was seen in their flawed Aadhaar numbers. 104.4 crore persons have been given Aadhaar as of today, out of the total national population. This comes to 82% of the total population. And, if we simply take the adult population that is above 18 years this amounts to 98% of the population. Furthermore, the Congress party deliberately ignores that linkages with Aadhar happen, not only for households, but also for individuals.

On Swachh Bharat, while more than 2 crore household toilets have been built to support poor families under the Swachh Bharat Mission, the goal of the Mission is larger by ensuring behavioural change and we have achieved more than 70,000 open defecation free villages. The Congress talks about toilet construction even when over 3 million toilets ‘vanished’ when the Congress ruled in Maharashtra for 15 long years.

The lip service being paid by the Congress towards the marginalized and the minorities is now stands fully exposed in front of the people of India. Most farmer suicides in India have occurred in states governed by the Congress. It is an equally undeniable fact that some of the most heinous communal riots in India’s history have happened under the reign of Congress governments, one of them being in Assam in 2012 even when the Prime Minister represented that state.

Even today, the highest crimes against Dalit communities are taking place in states ruled or supported by the Congress. The Congress, which talks about rights for tribal communities never saw merit in creating a ministry for their welfare. It was a BJP government that formed a separate ministry of tribal affairs and carved two states with significant tribal populations. The Prime Minister should be congratulated for his vision to build museums commentating the struggles of tribal freedom fighters. By consciously skipping this fact, the Congrss is insulting the tribal communities of India.

In foreign policy too, the distinction is clear. The statements of then PM Dr. Manmohan Singh at Sharm el-Sheikh brought immense ‘Sharm’ (shame) to the nation. There was a Prime Minister who was open to ‘debating’ India’s role in Balochistan and here is a Prime Minister who has categorically sought to name and shame Pakistan for the atrocities it is committing day and night in Balochistan. The overwhelming support from the oppressed and subjugated brave men and women of Balochistan for Prime Minister Modi illustrates the chord his address has struck on the issue and displayed the firmness with which India has dealt with the issue.

On Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress forgets a comprehensive all party meeting on 12th August, which its own party leaders attended and where the Prime Minister spoke at length on the issue. PM Modi has visited the state on multiple occasions including when the state was ravaged by floods. In contrast, the Congress remembers Jammu and Kashmir only in the opposition. The most simmering situation in Jammu and Kashmir took place in 2010 when the Congress was a partner of the ruling coalition. The round of protests in 2008 took place under a Congress Chief Minister. Never has the Congress spoken for the rights of Kashmiri Pandits.

One hopes the Congres plays the role of a constructive opposition instead of always finding fictitious flaws in the work of the Government. Their factitious and divisive politics of the Congress can no longer be hidden. They need not play with the aspirations and hopes of the people to save their ship, already sinking due thanks an inexperienced and uninterested leader.
