Nitish Kumar Lost Assam Elections, bet you didn’t know

Assam Elections

Perfume Baron and AIUDF Chief Badraduddin Ajmal was extra candid on the sets of India TV yesterday. The initial trends for Assam Elections were in and it was certain by then that BJP was sure to storm to power. He looked like a man who was prepared for a thrashing of a lifetime. And he got it, harsher than he anticipated. On the unloading end of his fury was a broken Congress who in his judgement was the prime reason behind the saffron upwelling in the tea state. After All Assam has a sizeable population of Muslims and has been a state where BJP has minuscule representation.

The inevitable happened:

The BJP coalition won a comfortable victory with 86 seats in the 126-member Assam Assembly. BJP alone won 60 seats in Assam Elections. Congress could manage a paltry 26 seats and AIUDF’s scoreboard stopped at 13.

They ate into each other’s vote base with vengeance and hence ended up dividing the Bengali Muslim vote, thereby propelling BJP to a decisive victory. But that’s common knowledge and every analysis is in Public Domain but what Badraduddin Ajmal revealed was a sinister agenda to unsettle BJP. Such were the revelations that Rajat Sharma, a man of few emotions had a nice smirk on his face and the Congress spokesperson had to say “Arey Ajmal Sahab saari Baatein Publically nahi bolte hain”

Badraduddin Ajmal accused Congress of being unyielding. Ajmal had assessed his positions correctly and had offered to play second fiddle to Congress in a “Bihar like Mahagathbandhan” but Congress trusted its Assam Chieftain Tarun Gogoi too much.

Gogoi wanted to go into Assam elections alone. Pointless to say, that Gogoi’s analysts were terrible with their calculations.

But that’s not where this gets interesting. This gets interesting when self-proclaimed annihilator of all saffron forces Nitish Kumar Pitches in.

Nitish Kumar along with his trusted lieutenant Prashant Kishor tried coaxing Congress to get into an alliance with AIUDF. He explained how the union of secular forces averts the division of secular votes And when seculars assemble, the saffronists tremble. Prashant Kishor of course used his Data Crunching Prowess to represent Nitish Kumar’s theories numerically. Of course all of it fell on the deaf ears of Tarun Gogoi, who was more than prepared for his 4th term.

Had it not been for Badruddin Ajmal’s emotional outburst, the crafty backend maneuverings of Nitish Kumar would have remained concealed. As Ajit Datta explains in his article Rahul Gandhi for UP CM: Script by Prashant Kishor, Directed By Nitish Kumar, Nitish Kumar tried to pull a fast one over the Congress Party. It is no secret that Nitish Kumar wants to lead an amalgamation of anti-Modi forces in 2019. Rahul Gandhi might be an obstacle to his dream, and so they believe Kishor wants to sacrifice the Congress scion at Uttar Pradesh’s political altar. The political demise of Rahul Gandhi will weaken the party substantially and leave it with no option but to support a Nitish-led front.

From allying with Lalu to foraying for partners in UP to sweet-talking Gogoi in Assam Elections, every move of Nitish Kumar is indicative of his lust for the PM Throne. Too bad, this one bombed. It won’t be unfair to say that along with the Congress and the AIUDF, Nitish Kumar lost in Assam Elections as well and for that we have to thank only one man.
