The effervescence of youth endowed with passion, imagination and aspirations, the fading innocence of childhood clouded with larger than life memories, and a will to conquer the world glaring into the dark reality of adult life- adolescence has its own hallmark. Like any other 19-year old, Aditya Sachdeva was on the threshold of spreading his wings and flying in the vast expanse of life. When he was returning from a party in Bodh Gaya along with 3 other friends, little did he know that his wings would be clipped so soon? Maybe he forgot that he lived in Bihar. Maybe he forgot that he had committed the crime of not being born to a politician mother!. The Gaya Road Rage case took the life of an innocent.
Gaya Road Rage Case: You don’t overtake a Politician’s son
Aditya Sachdeva, son of a well-known businessman in Gaya was shot down on 7th May by Rocky Yadav, son of JD-U MLA Manorama Devi and dreaded gangster-turned politician Bindeshwari Yadav. His crime- he committed the dreadful mistake of overtaking the Land Rover of an egotist son of an influential political family, who couldn’t digest how an ordinary citizen driving a shrimpy Swift Dzire could show disrespect to the heir of the royal Yadav family, the scion of the illegal arms & ammunitions network of his father.
Where one mother, who had impatiently waited for his son to come home and lay down his head on her lap in a gesture of love that would mean the world to her, now held his lifeless body close to her heart, wishing he would come back to life hearing her heart pounding so hard, cursing herself for permitting him to go, only to never come back again, the other mother chose to defend her son’s heinous act, terming it as an act of ‘self-defense’ by a ‘licensed revolver’ against the ‘attack’ perpetrated by the deceased. Who gave him the license to hold a revolver?
Gaya Road Rage Case: Rocky Yadav’s defense
On run since past 2 days, police have finally found Rocky Yadav. His father and security guard Rajesh Kumar, who was with Rocky Yadav when the incident happened, ‘protecting’ him on his mother’s orders, are in police custody.
This is one of the many incidents of blatant hooliganism by kin of elected representatives that Bihar has witnessed in recent times. With law & order going for a cakewalk, the fear of ‘Return of Jungle-Raj’ has engulfed the state yet again. As usual, the government of Bihar has ensured strict action against the accused. But, they have failed yet again. An over-ambitious Nitish Kumar sees him as a potent competitor to Narendra Modi for 2019. But he forgot one thing, that before becoming PM, Modi ensured that women in Gujarat were absolutely safe even during the wee hours of Navratri!
Gaya Road Rage Case: Apathy of the ‘top’ leaders
Rahul Gandhi did not visit him. Arvind Kejriwal didn’t tweet about it. Barkha’s stomach did not churn this time. One can only imagine the political storm unfurling had it been the son of a BJP politician. More so, if Aditya was a backward or belonged to a minority, then only he would’ve earned the farewell of a martyr. Or maybe not, because the Ruling coalition happens to be a Secular one.
This gruesome Gaya Road Rage Murder will remain in news for the next 48 hours. Aditya’s family will be paid a ‘remuneration’ for giving up their son.
A multitude of blame-games and chest thumping awaits us until the next set of juicy news arrive, and we will conveniently get on with our lives. It’s only the Sachdeva family which will feel the agony of a departed soul & will bear the brunt of locking horns with a political bigwig. But, incidents like these keep reminding us that if we keep voting criminals to power, we may as well unleash the Frankenstein’s monster that will come back and destroy us.
