Criticize Barkha Dutt, Oppose Barkha Dutt, but do not Abuse Barkha Dutt

‘Pen is Mightier than Sword’, they say. Absolutely true, especially if journalists come into the picture. Advancing technologies have only helped the journalist to grow bigger, in coverage, in power, and in size as well. There are people like Hu Shuli, Shireen Bhan, Jon Stewart, Larry King who makes journalism the profession that it is. India is also not devoid of great journalists. From Kuldip Nayyar, to the famed Salma Sultan, to the unfortunately dead journalist Jyotirmoy Dey, we have journalists who provide the strength to democracy in India, and then, there is Barkha Dutt.

Recently, this hypocrite of a journalist (and the poster girl for the annoying left winged sycophant NDTV) is in news, for a series of trolls, mostly sexist and abusive directed against her. A series of trolls, ridiculing her allegedly as a prostitute journalist of a prostitute channel (I can’t reproduce those words, they’re rather too vulgar) have surfaced since yesterday, making Barkha once again the irritating headlines of the day.

While most of the liberals have come out in support for her, calling all the trolling mass as sexist, chauvinist and every other word a proud hypocrite feminist (Feminazi for short) would have in her collection, some called for legal action as well. But somewhere down the line, leaving aside the vulgar trolls (which even I don’t support), I feel that Barkha Dutt (nicknamed Burqa Dutt for her penchant for Islamism) deserves every ounce of troll bestowed upon her. After all, she has tortured the Indians too much with alleged sinister coverage, the hypocrisy of her journalism, and the list goes infinite.

Born only two days after India historically liberated Bangladesh from the clutches of Pakistan, i.e. 18th December 1971, Barkha Dutt is the literal definition of the privileged kid, her father, S.P. Dutt, was an Air India official, and her mother Prabha Dutt, is a noted journalist in Hindustan Times. Unlike some journalists, who had to make it hard to succeed, like the famous media scribe, Rajat Sharma, Barkha Dutt never had to struggle in life. She studied in the best of the colleges, including Delhi’s St. Stephen College, Jamia Milia Islamia, and Columbia University’s Institute of Mass Communication. Perfect Liberal, isn’t she?

Why is she trolled so much? Barkha is the subject of countless trolls for her hypocritical coverage of the various issues that plague India. Her book, ‘This Unquiet Land’, when launched in the winters of 2015, was ridiculed for her biased coverage of the issues in India, from Gujarat riots of 2002, to the recent liar’s propaganda of INTOLERANCE! Some even claimed to substitute that book for toilet papers! That is the level of the trolls this hypocrite of a journalist is subjected to day and night.

Barkha is also known for allegedly giving way to the nation’s enemies to wreak havoc, by allegedly leaking the plans in full face of the camera. Remember her famous Kargil coverage? She covered how India was planning to attack Tiger Hill, and inadvertently leaked out the plan of the surprise attack to the media too. I wish to ask Barkha, wouldn’t the enemy have their agents in India as well? Are they that dumb enough? Thanks to Barkha Dutt, at least seven to nine of the 10 soldiers of the Ghatak platoon died due to the leakage of the plan, since Pakistani insurgents opened the automatic fire from behind as well. Had it not been for that young sergeant (Havaldar) Yogendra Singh Yadav’s insurmountable courage, we would never have been able to win Tiger Hill at all. In a way, Barkha Dutt allegedly jeopardized Yogendra’s life too. Why Barkha? Why? Is a soldier’s life that cheap, in front of your coverage?

If that is enough for you, Barkha is well known for playing the old English trick of Divide & Rule. In the macabre riots of 2002, Barkha flouted the rules of Press Council of India openly, allegedly calling sections of mobs as Hindus and Muslims, almost triggering another bunch of riots. I remember, in Firaaq, directed by Nandita Das, one viewer openly criticized Barkha’s stance of covering the riots, saying, ‘Yeh tab kahan the jab Hindu mare jaa rahe the? (Where were they, when the Hindus were dying?) That in one dialogue explains Barkha’s entire ideology.

Besides, Barkha’s personal life isn’t that nice as well. Although none have come up to show the veracity of the claims, Barkha Dutt is allegedly accused of having married two Muslim media barons, and having left them unceremoniously. These, after Barkha teaches most of us to follow the so called Ganga Jamuni tehzeeb, and not attack someone personally. Barkha, did no one teach you that Hindi quote, ‘Par Updesh Kushal Bahutere’ (Imbibe the values yourself before teaching the same to others) ?

Some might harp on the opinion, that Barkha is being targeted for being a female journalist, and keeping her opinions. Had that been the reason, probably the likes of Tavleen Singh, Charul Malik, Tanvir Gill etc. would never have able to walk free. The problem with Miss Barkha is not that she is a woman. The problem with Miss Barkha is that she is a hypocrite of the worst standard, an intellectual terrorist whose menace needs to be curtailed, if India really wishes to progress, at least in the field of journalism. Besides, in Indian liberal logic, you can’t protest against the liberal, no matter how sinister or irritating he/she is. Otherwise, be prepared for a fate like that of ex Indian Institute of Mass Communication student, Yogesh Kumar Sheetal, whose career was almost jeopardized, in 2011, just for shouting Anti Barkha Dutt slogans. Any doubts now?

If you don’t believe me, then probably a revisit to 26/11 would do for you.

Barkha Dutt has been accused of allegedly covering the Mumbai 26/11 attacks in a rather sinister and over dramatic fashion.

With utter apathy for victims, and throwing the norms to the winds, she allegedly leaked out a plan of the NSG to drop flash bombs in the Taj. The same plan, was covered widely, and in most probability, would have reached the terrorist handler. As a result, the terrorists inside were well aware, and we lost unfortunately one of our warriors, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, to their nasty bullets. All thanks to Barkha Dutt, and her stupid coverage.

Why Miss Barkha Dutt, except for those vulgar slurs, deserves every ounce of troll bestowed upon her, is simply because she has always played with the sentiments of Indians. She has zero sympathy for any true victim, but unblemished support for anyone, who attempts to destroy India, whether physically or intellectually, just like she campaigned for those idiots who shouted ‘Bharat ki barbadi tak Jung Rahegi!’ (We will fight till India is destroyed). A hypocrite beyond redemption, she needs to be checked, or otherwise India shall be a mute witness to the deterioration brought upon by these intellectual terrorists in the field of journalism. However, in the name of trolls, neither me, nor any sane Indian, would approve of the vulgar trolls used for her, no matter how irritating she is. After all, we have better words in our vocabulary. Idiot, for instance?
