After big Ishrat Jahan expose, the Agusta Westland chopper scam was set to rock the Parliament. Even Times Now alleged that they were threatened legally by Finmeccanica, the parent company of Agusta to stop their investigation which might reveal the UPA Government role in it. The 200 page judgement has named Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh and Ahmed Patel, Sonia being the driving force.
After the news hit the TV screens, BJP’s Meenakshi Lekhi gave a notice in the Parliament over #Choppergate. Since then Congress is on the cry. After the big expose in the AgustaWestland chopper deal during the UPA regime Congress plays the sacrifice card, says Gandhis have sacrificed so much for the country and they should not be questioned on the VVIP chopper scam. But the Union Defence Ministry has already asked the Indian Embassy for all details in connection with #AgustaNetas. Defence Ministry will probe the documents officially.
As per news sources Congress President Sonia Gandhi called for an urgent meeting of senior leaders at her residence in New Delhi this morning to decide the strategy on the latest revelations as to how they should not let the Rajya Sabha function today(no literally, as they have been doing since forever, remember National Herald?). As a result, when Swamy started to quote the AgustaWestland chopper scam judgement naming Signora Gandhi, all hell broke loose. Angry words been hurled between opposition Congress and ruling BJP members over Subramaniam Swamy’s statement which he was not even allowed to finish. Swamy was just stating what was in the report. A handful even moved closer to the treasury benches menacingly.
Members of the treasury benches too got up on their seats to counter the opposition. Fearing an ugly showdown, a couple of Marshalls too stepped into the Well to act as a wall between the opposition and the ruling side. Before things got out of hand, Deputy Chairman P J Kurien adjourned the House for 10 minutes. This led to two adjournments of the Rajya Sabha in the pre-noon session. However, Gandhi’s name was later expunged by Deputy Chairman P J Kurien. Kurien said,”I am not admonishing you as this is your first speech in the House” after being nominated to the Upper House. “But the name is expunged.”
But this did not satisfy the Congress members who were again shouting slogans against Swamy. As Congress members continued to raise slogans from the Well, the Deputy Chairman again adjourned the House till noon.
Till yesterday all the opposition MPs were sloganeering “Modi teri tanashahi nahi chalegi, nahi chalegi”, but today they wouldn’t let the house function just because Sonia’s name was taken. Such tolerance.
While Sonia Gandhi rubbishes off the claims after the much drama at the Rajya Sabha, she continues to say that this is how BJP does character assassinations and if BJP was aware of chopper scam what was it doing since two years of its ruling. She said- I am not afraid, let them take my name.
Ahmed Patel says, “Agar thoda bhi truth nikle then they should hang us.”
Basically all the AgustaNetas claim that they are as innocent as dove but only further investigations can tell if they are playing a bluff.
Congress claims that they took action as soon as they came to know about the chopper scam, the case was handed over to CBI and the company AgustaWestland was blacklisted. They continue to blame BJP that why did they remove the company’s name from blacklist list to which Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar challenged the Congress to show order of UPA government blacklisting AgustaWestland. Which means, Congress never blacklisted the company in the first place.
Well of course only times can tell if the AgustaNetas named in the 200 page document would be punished for taking bribes, but one thing is clear, the road down here is not smooth for Congress anymore. They accused Modi of 2002 riots openly, even if he got clean chit from the highest Court of India, they called him mass murderer, dictator, and what not but my dear Congress, Times, they are changing and your lie is getting exposed. We may get Congress Mukht Bharat pretty soon if this would be the speed of the Exposes!
